Much Needed Balance

This update brings more balance to Acceptable Losses, which was sorely needed. Before the update, missions felt a little too close to flipping a coin no matter the difficulty, as many have pointed out.

changedThis update brings more balance to Acceptable Losses , which was sorely needed. Before the update, missions felt a little too close to flipping a coin no matter the difficulty, as many have pointed out. Part of that was that the difficulty bins or bands were too small. These bins (seen as Shields on the Mission Cards) are now a bit wider bringing the easy missions down a bit. The "Easy" missions will be easier to pass but still not impossible to fail. And a Catastrophic Failure for these simple tasks, like Trenchfoot Prevention, will be very rare.
changedMission difficulty adjusted for nearly all missions
changedMission difficulty bins adjusted, i.e. stars on shields feel more predictable
removedFailing the Request for Squad mission no longer removes your squad, but HQ still hates you
changedNearly all Mission Events with outcome modifiers are balanced

Outside of the balancing act, minor, but wanted, feature coming in with this update is the ability to hold SHIFT while opening Squad Folders keeping them open. Releasing SHIFT will shut all open folders, except for the one hovered.

Missions

  • Mission difficulty adjusted for nearly all missions

  • Mission difficulty bins adjusted, i.e. stars on shields feel more predictable

  • More missions increase HQ Opinion (just a couple)

  • Trench Condition and Defenses used as modifiers

  • Failing the Request for Squad mission no longer removes your squad, but HQ still hates you

  • Nearly all Mission Events with outcome modifiers are balanced

Folders Stay Open

  • Hold shift to keep right-clicked Squad folders open

  • Release to close all non-hovered folders

Other

  • Request for Squad mission text rewritten

  • HQ Mission text rewritten

  • Various typos
