Detectives,

A player left a review this week that stuck with me:

"After finishing the game, the Continue button was grayed out — I still hadn't collected all my clues. Clicked New Case and lost 3 hours."

That was painful to read. It was on me — the ending credits code was deleting your auto save, and the main menu was disabling the Continue button after completion. Two bugs stacking made finished players lose their progress.

So I stayed up tonight and fixed it.

1. ENDING NO LONGER DELETES YOUR SAVE

When the credits finish, your auto save stays intact. If you want to go back and collect missed clues / explore remaining deductions, Continue is no longer grayed out.

[2. Three independent save slots (Auto / Slot 1 / Slot 2)]

The main menu Continue button now opens a slot picker showing each save's chapter, clue count, deduction count, timestamp, and completion status. Pick the one you want to load.

3. NEW GAME NO LONGER OVERWRITES YOUR SAVE

It used to overwrite your auto slot silently. Now:

  • Empty slot exists → New Case writes there, all other saves untouched

  • All three slots full → A picker asks which slot to overwrite, with full progress info on each so you don't accidentally wipe a completed run

[4. New "Backup progress to another slot" in pause menu]

Press ESC during play → Backup progress to another slot. Copy your current progress as a safety snapshot. If a later decision goes wrong, you can roll back.

FINAL NOTE

I'm sorry the old save system cost some players real progress. This patch is my attempt to make it right.

And to the reviewer who lost 3 hours — if you see this, thank you. Your feedback directly led to this critical bug being found and fixed.
