Yuma Nest changes
Content Poll
I’m taking a poll for what content is most anticipated, so I can choose where to focus development on first.
The poll includes the following options:
New class
More pets
More cosmetics
The next stage of progression
Cleanup/improve existing content
Expanded housing system + furniture
The poll will be available on the Discord server (#❗-announcements) until Monday, March 23. In the meantime, I’ll be working on a QoL update, and then I will announce the results of the poll, along with a development roadmap.
Gameplay Improvement Update
I mentioned a QoL update was coming in the previous patch notes, but I’ve received a lot of critical feedback about the gameplay that I think is important to address first. A separate QoL update is coming soon.
QoL Updates
You can now teleport to a funded Food Stand by clicking on the dot on the map.
You can teleport to your home room by pressing the map dot.
Opening the world map when using a controller or Keyboard-only mode will snap your cursor to your current room’s map dot.
When you craft a Training Structure, you no longer obtain an item. Instead, that structure is now usable in any room. The number you can place in a room is the number of that recipe that you’ve crafted.
The build-mode item bar now shows quantity for these types of items.
Mana Wheel Rework
I’ve gotten a lot of feedback that the Mana Wheels feel too unforgiving and can be confusing.
Each mana stack now increases the minimum possible size of your next spin, instead of changing the starting size of the circle. The maximum mana stack has been increased to 75 to avoid spending many wheels without any return.
The sell-price of equipment with red tier and green tier has been reduced.
This new system makes top-tier stats more attainable. For players who have already pushed the system to its limits and used over 1000 mana wheels, you can talk to Onita for a special surprise.
Basic Stat Rework
Before this update, you would get +1% Attack and +1% Max HP per player level. You will now gain +1 Attack and +5 Max HP stat per level, instead of the %stat.
Overall, this makes you much stronger in early game, and about the same as before in the current end-game. This should make the sewer more approachable early on, so you can obtain the Yumanite Set and start upgrading sooner.
Gondola Boss damage and HP was increased by 30% to account for this free stat increase. Everything else was left untouched. This means the early game will progress a lot quicker than before, but this balances out by the time you’re in mid/end game.
Skill Changes
There was some feedback that skills felt weak. I took a look, and many were indeed very weak, so have been buffed:
Card Storm and Hyer Focus damage has been doubled
Bungee Ball max bounce count increased from 10 to 15
YoYo Whirlwind damage was increased by 50%
YoYo Bulldozer now deals a small amount of continuous damage instead of just the initial hit
YoYo Bulldozer now starts with the bottom of the hitbox lining up with the bottom of the player, so will no longer fall through platforms on startup
Using Bungee Ball and Bird Blast will no longer be interrupted if you are hurt during casting
Visual change: Bungee balls bounce-off direction was given a slight random variation to look more natural and better spread when stacking multiple balls
Maskinta (Sewer Boss 3) Rework
I’ve received a lot of feedback about this boss being unreasonable and annoying to fight, so I’ve made a few adjustments that should make it a much more fair and enjoyable battle:
Replaced the bomb scatter pattern with a new pattern, where the bombs cover a section of the room (more cone-shaped than scatter)
Increased boss hitbox
No minion spawn
No mixing patterns
Down-attacks bounce you up
Line projectile spin speed decreased, so you can reasonably rotate around the boss while attacking, instead of trying to squeeze between the small projectiles
Boss HP increased by 20% since it's a lot easier to get hits on him now, and you don't have to deal with minions
Repositioned foreground assets so they do not get in the way
Gameplay Clarity Improvements
The locations where sewer materials are found are now indicated as icons on the sewer map. These icons are revealed when that room is explored.
The shortcut pipes that lead to the sewer bosses have been redesigned. They also show where each of them leads.
A sewer pipe that leads to a boss room now has particles flying out of it to indicate that it leads to a boss room
The sewer map now highlights the pathway that leads to a boss room
Other Updates
Foragable materials in the sewer will now always have at least one spawn per day for each room that they spawn in.
Star Lotus daily spawn amount was increased by 1 on average.
Phantolla Ink's daily spawn amount was increased by 1 on average.
More mana tea leaf bushes will now appear in Lupos forest.
Added a phone notification that shows your stats increasing upon leveling up.
Made a proper icon for Manasim Level phone notification.
Projectile Pierce and Projectile Deflector have been given a room limit of 5.
Number of Phantolla Ink in Projectile Pierce recipe reduced from 5 to 3.
Player hurtbox was made very slightly smaller against enemy attacks + fixed a bug that made the right side of the hurtbox bigger than the left.
Dark Popobo shockwave damage dealt to other monsters was reduced significantly.
Bug Fixes
Fixed being unable to craft more than one of each Yumanite Exchange equipment.
Fixed a bug that made the right side of the player hurtbox bigger than the left.
Fixed slingshot not hitting Maskinta.
Fixed crashing from using Bungee Ball at the top of a room where the ball is created outside of the room bounds.
Fixed getting stuck if you die and get pushed into a portal.
Fixed camera sometimes jittering aggressively when you advance dialogue during a camera zoom.
Certain characters are no longer allowed in text fields for naming things ( /, \\, <, >, “ ), which fixes crashing from dialogue formatting including names.
Fixed Misty Gem randomly flying up into the sky.
Fixed crash from placing bomb dispenser on Misty Gem.
Made you get off bike when starting the final meeting dialogue sequence.
Fixed shadows on top of house sometimes when you teleport home from forest.
Added an extension to the phone screen notification when the text overflows the box.
