We've been working on this update for the past two weeks, and we're excited to finally share it. It includes a major overhaul of the map system that significantly improves performance, along with a number of gameplay, UI, and quality-of-life improvements.

Here's the complete changelog:

Gameplay

  • Adjusted stun calculations to make stuns less frequent and more rewarding when they occur.

  • Added small gameplay challenges after obtaining the Gun and Shield abilities to teach their mechanics in a more natural way.

  • Added a new shortcut room in Capitol to reduce late-game backtracking.

  • Removed the initial spike traps in Sunken City.

Visuals & Effects

  • Tweaked the Observer Drone effect so it now renders above everything else in the level.

  • Fixed enemy bullets disappearing instantly when their owner dies. They now properly play a visual effect before being removed.

  • Enemy corpses now always render behind living enemies, reducing confusion during combat challenges with multiple enemies.

  • Updated the visuals for the Worker's Flame Column attack.

  • Added a visual trail effect to Energy Gun projectiles.

Audio

  • Fixed certain gameplay sound effects not being audible while underwater.

  • Added new sound effects for the Worker and Sentinel bosses.

UI & UX

  • Polished the Shop UI. It now correctly updates item information when purchasing items instead of briefly showing the previous item's details.

  • Removed the final boss hint when hints are disabled.

  • Rebound the minimap toggle key from B to C on keyboard to avoid conflicting with the Drone Activation key.

Map & Exploration

  • Added new rooms to the Essence Factory.

  • Improved map and minimap performance. Opening, closing, and navigating the map should now be smooth and free of frame-rate hiccups.

  • Fixed secret doors not always appearing on the minimap after being discovered.

Content & Progression

  • Added all bosses to the achievement tracking list.

  • Revised the descriptions of several modules to better reflect their mechanics.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed some enemy bullets not changing color when reflected back.

  • Fixed Traveler dialog preprocessing when text contains question mark characters.

  • Reworked chest code generation to prevent code collisions.

  • Fixed the display name of the first save point in Overgrown Passage, which was incorrectly showing its internal ID.
