addedWe are excited to announce our latest patch, “Cache and Carry,” to Xenia’s Ark. We know it has been a minute or two since there has been a major improvement to the game, but we have made significant strides, squashed many bugs, added more than a few features, and taken your feedback to heart since our last update. We believe this patch is the largest step forward we have made since entering Early Access. While there are still more interesting and compelling improvements to come, we deem that Xenia’s Ark has graduated from being merely playable to genuinely enjoyable. Below are the mechanics and features you can expect to see in the new patch, “Cache and Carry.” Explorable stashes have been added to planet surfaces and star systems to incentivize and reward exploration. However, hazards have also been added to star system maps in the form of Radiation Fields, Plasma Fields and Black Holes. The effects of these hazards range from distressing, to surprising, to fatal. The Escort feature has been added to Military and Civilian Units, which ensures that they will stay together while moving from place to place. When enabled, the units’ movement will be linked and limited to the lowest movement between the two units. Engineers can now have their “Assemble Repair Pack” or “Assemble Build Pack” abilities toggled on and off, so they will build the respective pack every turn until their limit has been reached. Freighters are now able to carry Civilian Units and Mechs. These units can now Embark when close enough to a Freighter and will be loaded into the Freighter if there is sufficient capacity left. Those units can then be selected and use the Disembark ability to leave the Freighter. The saving system has been overhauled, reducing save and load times and reducing save file size. UI color customization has been added, combat effects have been overhauled, information has been added to the Status Effects tooltips in the Unit UI, and Steam Integration has been implemented. We here at Malicious Games are deeply thankful for all the feedback, suggestions, and support as we continue to push to full release. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions to make Xenia’s Ark a better game, we would love to hear from you on our Steam Community Page.
