X300 changes
Early in development, this game was announced under the working title Maralinga and was framed around real historical events connected to Australia’s nuclear testing era. As development progressed, we took time to reflect more deeply on the responsibilities involved in representing real places, real histories, and real communities.
As a result, we’ve made a deliberate decision to change the name of the project and reframe it as a fully fictional work.
The game is now titled X300.
X300 is a survival horror game set in a fictional Cold War era testing facility, inspired by broader historical themes such as secrecy, institutional decision-making, and long-term consequences but it will no longer depict real-world locations, communities, or historical events. All characters, places, and records in the game will be fictional.
This change wasn’t made lightly. It reflects learning, reflection, and a commitment to approaching this work with care and respect. Fiction allows us to explore the ideas and atmosphere that originally drew us to this project, we claim no authority over real history or lived experience.
What hasn’t changed is the games core vision:
A tense survival horror experience
Investigation and environmental storytelling
An Australian Gothic atmosphere
A focus on discovery
We’re grateful to everyone who has followed the project so far, and we appreciate your understanding as the game continues to evolve. We’re excited to share more about X300 as development continues.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
