Worlds Upon The Wind changes
This update adds furigana to the kanji practice minigame, fixes several bugs, and adds a few quality of life features. Thanks for everyone for reporting bugs and sending in suggestions!
As usual, all applicable changes are also in the demo.
Furigana in the Kanji Practice Minigame
The kanji practice minigame now includes furigana and vocabulary tooltips for all kanji words in sentences. By default, furigana only appears after a question is solved, but you can switch it to always appear, or to not appear at all.
Note that this feature is currently experimental. The base furigana and meaning assignment were generated by an automated dictionary-based tokenizer. I have done several scripted and manual proofreading passes and fixed hundreds of mistakes, but there are over 4,000 example sentences in the game, so it's likely that some issues fell through the cracks.
The kanji practice minigame has received a few other improvements:
Added kanji and vocabulary tooltips for all words containing kanji in example sentences.
Added the ability to set a maximum difficulty level.
Added a couple of brief tips when starting.
Fixed the insights tooltip not showing up.
Quality of Life Improvements
Yield tooltips now mention if the yield is blessed or cursed.
Added a shortcut to hide UI (for screenshots). It defaults to Ctrl+H, but can be remapped in the settings.
Added a label to the minimize button in Divine, Pick, etc. UIs. I've made the button more prominent three times now during the beta and demo phases, but folks keep missing it.
Added the option to return to the menu when pressing Quit.
Reduced game size on disk by about 200MB.
Balance Changes
Adjusted the Fertility glyph to conjure Flower instead of Grass, as that produced an infinite combo that was too easy to set up.
Limited the Abandoned Temple survey encounter to only happen in forests.
Bug Fixes
Fixed the goal reroll button unintentionally only allowing one use per foray.
Fixed a "capical" typo.
Fixed the tiger companion description specifying an incorrect ability cost.
Fixed the Hungry Monk event allowing you to offer one extra bowl after going below the food requirement.
Fixed foray yield prediction not accounting for developments enabled due to quests or pinned shard types.
Fixed some events still showing "???" in their "May Grant" tooltips after all outcomes have been seen.
Fixed a case of the site UI scrolling incorrectly when zoom-on-hover is enabled.
Upcoming Changes
I've seen folks mention that they are getting the same survey encounters too often. If you've followed the demo development, you may know that surveys is a relatively recent feature, so it hasn't had time to accumulate as much content as most other features.
There are currently 40 different survey encounters. The focus for the next update will be to add a dozen more.
P.S. I have gotten several reports of a "dessert" typo. I really appreciate bug reports and suggestions of any kind, but in this one case, I invite you to try activating the choice. ;)
