字得其乐WordJoy changes
This update rebuilds the core gameplay almost entirely. The game is no longer centered around stage-based scoring on a 3x3 board. Instead, it is now a more direct and readable incremental game about Chinese character components.
You buy Chinese character components, place them on a 5x5 board, and let them generate coins over time. When adjacent components can form a valid Chinese character, they upgrade into stronger and more valuable pieces.
New Core Gameplay
Buy Chinese character components
Place them on a 5x5 board
Components automatically generate coins
Adjacent components form valid Chinese characters and trigger upgrades
Upgrades increase income and component value
Unlock more component choices
Keep adjusting your layout to snowball your board
The goal of this update is to make WordJoy feel more like a lightweight incremental game: clearer growth, more immediate feedback, and an easier-to-understand core loop, while keeping the main idea of combining Chinese character components.
The Board Is Now 5x5
The board has been expanded to 5x5.
This gives you more room to plan layouts and create character combinations. You can arrange components around adjacency, try to form more valid characters, and trigger more upgrades for higher income.
Every tile matters. Sometimes, moving one component can change the entire income structure of the board.
Incremental Growth
Components are no longer just scoring tools. They now generate coins over time.
Coins can be used to buy more components and unlock more choices. As you place more components, create more combinations, and trigger more upgrades, the board gradually becomes a self-growing machine powered by Chinese characters.
Layout Adjustment
The new version gives you more freedom to adjust the board:
Drag to swap components
Double-click to delete components
Rearrange your layout at any time
Free up space for future combinations
Deleting components is mainly used to free board space. It does not refund coins. I will keep improving the in-game hints around this to make the behavior clearer.
Why This Rework?
The previous version was closer to a lightweight strategy puzzle and scoring game. It had some interesting ideas, but it also had clear problems: the learning curve was high, growth feedback was not direct enough, and new players could have trouble understanding where the fun was.
This update is meant to focus more strongly on the best part of the game:
Place components, form Chinese characters, trigger upgrades, and watch the numbers grow faster.
This loop is easier to understand and gives the game a stronger foundation for future expansion.
What Comes Next
I will continue improving the game based on feedback, especially:
New player guidance
Delete and rearrange hints
Component balance
Upgrade pacing
UI feedback
More character combinations and growth content
If you played the previous version, this update should feel like a new game. If the old version felt hard to understand, this is a good time to try WordJoy again.
Thank you to everyone who played the game, gave feedback, and helped shape this update.
