字得其乐WordJoy changes
WordJoy has received a major gameplay update. This update reworks the core rules and refocuses the game around a clearer loop: character-building scoring + between-stage progression.
You now place Chinese character components onto a 3x3 grid, combine them into valid Chinese characters, and score through chips, multipliers, relics, and component skills. Each stage has a target score, but your number of plays is limited. Should you clear safely with a simple character, or wait for a more complex combination with a higher multiplier? Every move asks you to make a choice.
Core Gameplay Rework
The previous version focused more on board control and tile-flipping strategy. The new version returns to the heart of the game: building Chinese characters from components.
Place Chinese character components
Combine them into valid characters
Play characters to score
Reach the target score to advance
Choose new components and relics in the shop
Gradually shape your own character-building strategy
Chinese characters are no longer just answers. They are your scoring resources, build direction, and strategic core.
New Scoring System
Each play is scored through component chips and multipliers.
Components provide base chips. Character structure affects multipliers. Relics and skills further modify final score.
A simple character can help you progress safely, while a complex multi-component character may become key to a high-scoring burst. When situation feels unfavorable, you can also use reroll and discard actions to adjust your options and search for a better next play.
Between-Stage Builds and Shop
After each cleared stage, you enter the shop and choose new components or relics.
Different components affect which characters you can build. Different relics change how you score. Different skills create new synergy paths.
As stages progress, your deck gradually grows from basic components into a build with its own rhythm and direction.
Why This Update?
The original idea behind WordJoy was simple:
What if Chinese characters could be split into components, then recombined into a game?
This update is meant to make that idea clearer. While chasing higher scores and building synergies, players can also experience the structure, logic, and charm of Chinese characters.
What Comes Next
Next, I will continue improving:
Component and relic balance
New-player guidance
Scoring feedback
Shop experience
More relic and skill effects
More character combinations suited for build variety
Thank you to everyone who has played, given feedback, or continued following WordJoy. I hope this update brings a clearer, smoother, and more replayable character-building experience.
