Woodswalker changes
I've been busy pushing out updates to improve the game after launch. Most of these updates have been minor, so to avoid clogging up the feed, I've refrained from making individual posts. However, I prefer to be transparent about what I'm doing to the game, so here's a quick rundown of all the updates that I've published.
v2.0.1
Fixed a bug where the achievement unlock popup would not be removed.
Attempted to fix a bug involving steam achievements, but this update did not fix the issue.
v2.0.2
Fixed a bug where unlocking multiple achievements at once would cause desync between the in-game achievements and Steam achievements.
As an additional failsafe, opening the achievement menu will auto-sync Steam achievements to the in-game achievements.
v2.0.3
Fixed stability of certain models and textures loading.
v2.1.0
Replaced the Controls menu option with the How to Play option. This menu subset includes a new video tutorial on the game's base mechanics for increased clarity, which was an issue with previous builds.
v2.1.1
Implemented several rebalancing changes. 1 - Pushed back the time that the monster will begin stalking by ~15 seconds to allow the player to settle in. 2 - Decreased the randomization and slightly increased the time between messages from the fax and answering machine to make this element of the game more predictable and prevent unwinnable situations. 3 - Slightly reduced the amount of messages the player will receive to slightly decrease the duration of the night. 4 - Slightly increased the difficulty curve of the monster throughout the night. This is to slightly counterbalance to previous changes; however, the overall difficulty will still be lower than previous versions.
Fixed a bug where the monster could still kill the player on the game over screen.
Fixed a bug (hopefully) where the branch in the jumpscare sequence would not load correctly.
v2.1.2 (Today)
Removed the 'epic' and 'ultra' graphics settings, as these did not substantially increase the game's graphics while tanking performance.
Changed the game over screen text to "You couldn't save them" for additional clarity.
Added some additional prerequisites to the game build. I'm honestly not sure how significant of an impact this will have, but hypothetically, this should increase the stability of the game and asset loading.
Thank you all for your support! In less than a week the game practically has as many downloads as it got from its entire lifespan on itch.io. I'm very grateful for the chance to share my silly little horror game with you all, and I hope you have fun.
