The Crimson Update
Survivors, a major new update is afoot! A new dungeon to delve. Nine new languages. Full Steam Achievements. Tons of new building pieces and reworked textures/optimization. A reborn dragon. And a wave of rewritten and brand-new quests breathing fresh life into the island's cast. Whether you've been carving out your corner of the island since Early Access launch, or you're standing on the shore right now deciding whether to wash up here, there's never been a better time to step onto Wicked Island.
✦ Headline Features
A New Dungeon Awaits A new dungeon has been buried behind Graycott, ready for those brave (or foolish) enough to explore it. A new mysterious statue has also appeared on Drakmire Isle… make of it what you will. Now Playable in 10 Languages Wicked Island now ships with localization for Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, Turkish, and Polish, alongside English. This is a first pass, expect refinements over the coming patches, and we'd love your feedback on anything that reads wrong. Steam Achievements Are Here Achievements have arrived, new goals to chase, milestones to mark, and bragging rights to earn as you survive, build, and conquer. Building, Rebuilt Over 30 new building pieces and variations join the roster, including wall racks to display your weapons, jail cell walls and doors, and new inverted 25/45 triangle roof pieces. Just as importantly, most build pieces now share a single texture, which means dramatically lower memory cost for large bases and higher-resolution pieces across the board. Build bigger and build better. The Dragon, Reborn The dragon has been completely overhauled, a brand-new model, all-new dialogue, and an entirely new way to acquire it. Complete a certain quest and the dragon can now join you as a servant, with far more to say once it does. (Yes, it has also stopped flying backward.) A World That Talks Back 10 new quests have been added across Baelin, Barnabus, Agatha, and Aeron. On top of that, several characters have been rewritten: Aeron's personality and dialogue are completely new, Barnabus has been given far more character, and Isabell's lines have been reworked to better fit who she is.
⚔ Combat & Gameplay
Strike from the shadows: dealing damage from behind an enemy now grants a 50% damage boost.
A world that levels up: enemies and servants now gain EXP whenever a nearby enemy dies, rather than only on the killing blow, kill an enemy and all nearby allies share the experience. The same applies to your foes: when a werewolf kills a boar, nearby werebeasts and demons benefit too. And when an enemy kills you, it earns a 10x EXP boost, so the things hunting you can grow dangerous fast.
Scaling that respects your journey: enemy max spawn level now scales after you pass level 30. A level 400 survivor may face a level 400 werewolf, while a level 30 player will still never meet anything beyond roughly level 40.
- Smarter, deadlier AIimproved projectile prediction that tracks your movement far more accurately, plus faster Satyr projectiles.
Brutal new dismemberment: limbs now fall away properly, and enough damage will gib an enemy into multiple pieces, and it's more performant than before.
Tuned the speed-based FOV scaling.
Survival arena time is now capped at 90 seconds.
Reduced servant armor gain per level.

⚡ Performance & Optimization

Optimized the landscape shader and tweaked draw distances across all meshes.
Reduced shader overdraw on several foliage materials and cleaned up a number of LOD settings.
Skin shaders are now cheaper on GPU at low/medium settings.
Removed several unused legacy plugins, reducing init times and memory usage.
Major save cleanup: rewrote code that bloated and slowed save games. Old saves are cleaned up automatically once re-saved, and save file sizes are significantly smaller, meaning faster loads.
Optimized ragdoll performance on death, reduced character mesh memory, and tweaked several texture resolutions.
Shared build-piece textures significantly reduce memory cost for large bases while increasing piece resolution.
…and much more. This is the work of a tiny team building the island they always wanted to explore, and every bit of it is shaped by the survivors who play it. If something feels off, if a translation reads strangely, or if you just want to share what you've built, the discussions and reports are read and acted on. Thank you for being here. Returning survivors, your island has grown. New survivors, welcome. The shore is waiting. — RawDarkness
