Whispers of the Seasons changes
The QOL and UI Update is here! Although the overall reception to Whispers of the seasons has been positive, we have been hard at work analyzing player's reactions to the game and have dedicated this update to addressing some of the more common confusions and frustrations with the game.
Firstly, we would like to show off some of our new UI elements for the game, starting with the new season select screen!
Steam post imageThis new menu not only gives a new, improved look to the season select screen, but now allows players to see which seasons they have completed the quests for at a glance.
Second, is the new controls UI for Summer!
Steam post imageThis UI element only appears on Summer as the night loads for the first time, and should help newer player get a feel for what each button does while they wait for the night to load.
Lastly, check out our new trailer, showing off a mix of real gameplay and cinematics!
Along with these UI updates several quality of life features have been added to the game as seen below.
Loading Times:
We are still dedicated to reducing the load times of the cabin, especially on the first time entering. That process has begun with this update, with many items being committed to the games files as opposed to the scenes memory, and many objects being culled to only load in when needed. There is still more work to be done to complete this process, but as it stands the game should load and run better than it did before.
The Safe Code:
We know that many people have struggled to find the safe code in the cabin, so until a more refined solution is created, we have moved the code to a more visible spot for the time being.
QOL Additions:
The notebook and end screen now show you what season was failed if the quests were not complete in time
Tape recorder now plays shortened version of speech if it has already been heard once in Spring
Added "Retry Night" button to pause menu
Moved several items in Winter to more visible spots
Made matches and other items more common as seasons progress
Patch Notes:
Reduced loading times for cabin
Fixed monster path-finding issue in end sequence
Fixed sensitivity not responding in opening cut-scene
Fixed sequencing error in Spring quest events
Removed several unneeded events from night
Removed "Furniture Move" from end events
Fixed camera reset issue when leaving the safe quickly
Expanded the range of the bightness slider
Other minor bug fixes and adjustments
