Update Notes (Update 1.2, August 18, 2024)

BATTLE

New 'Defend' Mechanic: Added a 'Defend' skill with a new sound effect. Defending blocks 50% of physical damage until the character's next turn. A defending character gains Willpower and takes their next turn slightly faster.

Veda's New Ability: Replaced Veda's 'Channel' ability with the new 'Fortuna' skill. This slots-style mini-game grants the party random buffs based on luck.

Gaston’s AXIOM Skill: Adjusted Gaston's second-level Focus skill, ZEROE—and renamed it to AXIOM for distinction. Added new visuals and a third bullet effect for AXIOM-powered attacks.

Increased Gold Stealing: Increased the amount of gold that can be stolen from enemies, with an even larger increase for bosses.

Removed Post-Battle Retrieval: Winning a battle no longer retrieves items or gold stolen during the fight, making enemy Steal skills more impactful.

Skill Mechanic Adjustments: Made minor adjustments to various other battle skills.

Willpower Carryover: Remaining Willpower now carries over to the next battle but resets to zero when loading a save. Willpower is visible in the Status menu outside of battles.

GUNFIRE/GRENADE Fix: Fixed a bug with the GUNFIRE/GRENADE enemy skill that prevented it from dropping a player’s HP below 1.

Veda’s Attack Sound: Slightly improved the sound effect for Veda's physical attacks.

Minor Fixes: Various other small adjustments and fixes.

MENUS

Hunt Quest Availability: Added a feature to the World Map that shows unstarted Hunt Quests when browsing map locations.

New ITEMS/Eqp tab: Added a new tab in the Menu displaying a simple list of all your equipment-type items, which was previously unavailable.

Status Menu Layout: Swapped the locations of Gold, Karma, and EXP Stack in the Status menu for a clearer view of Gold during NPC interactions.

Level Up Screen Improvements: Enhanced the Level Up screen to include descriptions of stats, aiding less experienced JRPG players.

EXP Countdown Update: Added a tick sound effect for the post-battle EXP countdown, with the counter now also accelerating exponentially to reach zero faster.

Shop Screen Adjustments: Made minor visual tweaks to the Shop screens for better clarity.

Objective Text Polishing: Refined the 'Objective' texts in the menu.

Ultimate Equipment Sound Effect: Added a special sound effect when equipping any ultimate gear.

Item De-Equip Bug Fix: Fixed a bug where de-equipping an item could cause the item count to exceed 99.

Minor Menu Fixes: Addressed other small menu functionality issues.

MAPS AND SCRIPT

Burgand Falls Expansion: Expanded the Burgand Falls map and added a unique battle background image for this area.

Store Signposts: Added signposts to various stores and inns to make them stand out more from other buildings across the world.

Armand Outskirts Save Point: Added a missing save point to the Armand Outskirts, which was absent during the player's first visit.

Dialogue Additions: Added new dialogue, mainly to support the update's new features.

OTHER

New Mini-Game: Introduced "The Crooked Fortuna" at Adira's Colosseum. This slot machine mini-game uses mechanics similar to Veda's 'Fortuna' battle skill and offers cash prizes, items, and EXP.

Item Updates: Updated some item definitions and names for better clarity.

Stacked EXP Bonuses: Added stacked EXP Bonuses for certain endgame side quests that previously lacked them.

Event Sound Effects: Added sound effects to certain events that were missing them.

Chest Counter Bug Fix: Resolved a chest counter bug in one of the endgame areas.

NewGame+ Skill Bug Fix: Fixed a bug in NewGame+ Mode where previously acquired skills could be lost during the playthrough.
