Where They Go changes
We know many of you have been waiting on an update to the demo. This update aims to improve the performance on low to mid tier machines. There are also some quality of life updates and a few small gameplay changes. Bugs:
Flashlight view battery animation causing inventory to be inaccessible has been fixed. Additional feature added to view the battery automatically if it's below the requirement when at a flashlight switch.
Menu Feature
Able to leave to the menu to change settings without having to restart the game.
Process
Select esc, choose yes, menu will come up, select settings, make adjustments, select continue from menu.
Wishlist link takes people to epic store. Link now goes to steam.
- Game Balance fixYou could end up in a situation where you are unable to escape the witch. This area has been reworked to allow for more flexibility and better gameplay.
Steam achievements not working. Fixed.
Performance:
Added a selection for 30 fps and 60fps.
Added a resolution selection.
Added options to disable some post processing effects.
Added options for quality of anti-aliasing.
Added options for texture pool size.
Added options for Shadow quality.
Improved overall lighting performance and object instancing.
Now playable on Steam Deck. Performance is not great as the deck struggles with some of the UE5 tech, but we are looking into options to improve this in the future. But, it is playable. Menus still support mouse however, so you will have to use the mouse pads on the deck to navigate the menus. These changes significantly improve performance. If you are still having performance issues and you have a system meeting minimum requirements, please let us know. NOTE:
This is still a gameplay preview and is not representative of the final product. We still have a lot of work and polish to do. More improvements to gameplay and additional systems will be in the full game. We encourage you to join our Discord, bluesky, Youtube, Tiktok and watch our streams on Twitch to stay up to date on our development. We greatly appreciate all the feedback we have gotten, critical and praising. We want Where They Go to be the best we can make it.
