Water Boiling Simulator changes
Version 2.0 is here...
Hey everyone! Thanks for your support.
Due to a few changes of plans, I decided to completely overhaul the narrative of Water Boiling Simulator to make it a self-contained story and completely detached to the SiliCorp Computers narrative. SiliCorp isn't dead, but its story is so far gone compared to the original idea that was used in the original version of Water Boiling Simulator that it's just a completely different narrative at this point.
So, to clear up some lore bloat, I decided to make this game's story more akin to the original 2021 PICO-8 release, focusing more on personal issues rather than being a part of an overarching story.
This story pretty personal to me, so I hope it's enough. And if it isn't, well... That's OK! There are plenty more projects to come (and I don't consider myself the best writer, if I'm being totally honest).
But other than that, the game is pretty much the same. So if you've already beaten Water Boiling Simulator, gameplay wise, there isn't anything new.
Version 2.0 Changelog
Completely overhauled every single narrative beat of the game to better fit a more cohesive, self-contained story.
Changed to final basement task items to something more fitting of the new narrative.
Made it so every single "storytime monologue" cutscene will appear in chronological order whenever the player concentrates in the default "Water Boiling Simulator" difficulty.
Changed the small PICO-8 font to something a little more readable. (R.I.P).
Changed the size of the "messaging app" interface.
Removed the "Lorekeeper" and completionist achievements.
Added Brazilian Portuguese language support.
and... a brand-new key art made by me!
Aaaand I think that is all. If there are any new bugs I promise I will get to them as soon as possible! Thanks for your patience!
What's this? A sneak peek?
So, as stated before: SiliCorp is going nowhere. Here are a few cool new screenshots that I think most of you guys missed:
I can't show much yet, but I'm pretty excited to see everyone's reaction.
Also, there is a pretty high probability that a smaller game in the same vein as Water Boiling Simulator is coming before SiliCorp, so there is that (after all, this is how I fund larger projects, haha).
That is it, for now!
I don't think there will be any sort of new content update to this game anytime soon after this one. This game was made by me in like two months while I was dealing with college, and it was never meant to be anything larger than that, and I'm happy with it.
Thanks for reading!
