changedWhy am I saying this? Because, while being unhappy (and even completely hating the game) is 100% justified and fair, I saw a comment in one gameplay video that kinda got to my nerves. The comment said that they were "99% sure" the game was made by A.I, and that just makes me sad, man.
changedOriginsI don't remember what place I got (I think it was 15th out of 80?), but I do remember getting 2nd place in sound design, which was nice.

So, it's been a week since the game has been released, and WOW I did NOT expect it to do... well...

I didn't expect it to do anything at all really!

So many streamers (and big ones for that matter!) played this game only DAYS after release, and it just... feels so surreal!

I'm so, SO incredibly grateful (and super lucky) for the support and attention this small little project has been getting.

Of course, not everything is 100% perfect.

I have a few friends that didn't enjoy this one very much. This sentiment is shared with some other people, and that is OK! Because if I'm being honest? I know I can do better, and I hope that those who didn't enjoy it can, someday, enjoy something else I made.

Water Boiling Simulator isn't me at my best, but it's a taste of what I can do.

Why am I saying this? Because, while being unhappy (and even completely hating the game) is 100% justified and fair, I saw a comment in one gameplay video that kinda got to my nerves. The comment said that they were "99% sure" the game was made by A.I, and that just makes me sad, man.

A.I didn't touch this game, and I take personal offense thinking otherwise.

I take pride in actually doing everything by myself. It's one of the few things I'm pretty annoying about.

You can think the game is cheesy, or just plain stupid, but please don't compare my work to soulless cash-grab slop.

Phew.

Now that I got that out of the way, here is some small trivia and some context on how the game came to be:

Origins

This game is actually a REMAKE of a game I made in PICO-8 back in 2021 for a Game Jam that had the theme "Simulator".

It was supposed to be subversion kind of thing. Like a horror you didn't expect.

17 year old me made the original version was made in only 5 days, and was essentially a Five Nights at Freddy's "clone". It was kinda boring, but it had it's charm!

I don't remember what place I got (I think it was 15th out of 80?), but I do remember getting 2nd place in sound design, which was nice.

FUN FACT: The new version of the game actually uses the PICO-8 font in some places, as well as its color palette.

Those cool graphics you see? Everything just clamped to the 32 colors that cool little fantasy console can handle.

To sum it all up

Crazy week, thank you for your support, and I hope to see you soon with a new project.
