Greetings Commanders!

War Commander, our long‑running MMO real‑time strategy title known for its base‑building warfare and large‑scale tactical battles, is officially preparing to launch on Steam. This marks a major milestone for the game and we'd like to provide a preview of what to expect over the coming months.

A Three‑Stage Development Journey

Internal Tech Test:

The road to Steam begins with internal work on the Steam API. At this point we are integrating Steam's SDK and creating a login flow for both new and existing users. During this time we will conduct an internal only Tech Test focused on core systems; rendering performance, server stability, and a new PC‑optimized interface. This phase allows the team to identify foundational issues early, as well as build a strong foundation for development on desktop.

External Beta Test:

Once the technical groundwork is solid, the team will open the gates to a select group of community testers. We'll share how you can join this group at a later date, so stay tuned!

The external Beta Test will center on game client stability, UI refinement, and testing a new user experience. Player feedback during this stage will help shape how War Commander is played on desktop as well as guiding everything from new control inputs to quality‑of‑life improvements.

Steam Early Access:

With the game now stable and feature‑complete enough for broader play, War Commander will enter Steam Early Access. This phase invites the full community to participate in ongoing development, as well as providing a way for us to ensure the new user experience is understandable and will work for new players. Early Access will allow the team to roll out new content, refine progression systems, and ensure the game thrives in a modern PC environment.

A New Chapter for a Veteran RTS

Our goals:

  • For longtime fans, the Steam release represents a fresh start with improved performance and a more accessible platform.

  • For newcomers, it’s a chance to jump into a classic RTS reborn for today’s players.
