Repeated intro
Hello, everyone! I just got back from a much needed week off after 18 months of dev time, and now I'm once again ready to kick it into high gear! I will be using "Casual Mention" announcements to talk about things that aren't directly related to a specific game update. They will include news, plans for the future, and anything else related to Versus World. So, that being said... ... Here's some plans for the future! There are two main things that I'm really excited about getting to work on: optimization and user-generated content Optimization While this may be less exciting to some, it is very important. Frame rate is very important to me, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that. Some players (regardless of machine specs) have more issues than others, seemingly random (of course it's not random, though). I can see this first hand, as my old, crappy laptop often runs the game better than my high-end desktop. It makes no sense, but I am highly motivated to figure it out and fix it. Mods / User-Generated Content This was something I always planned on adding, but after a week-long soul-searching session, I realized how important it was to add right away. The plan is to set it up so anyone can download the free Unity editor, import the mod tools, and easily create tons of different mods. Using a combination of the Unity scene editor, the Versus World scripting API, and pretty much anything the Unity engine has to offer, it will be very easy to create maps, game types, weapons, grenades, power-ups, and any other dynamic game objects. For example, you could create a post-apocalyptic zombie co-op survival mode, with procedural-generated weapon drops (something I will probably make as an example mod for teaching purposes). These will be rolled out in increments, starting with the ability to make maps and scriptable map objects. When finished, I will also be using these tools to create new features, so anything I need for feature development, you will also have access to. And, of course, all of these mods can be shared using Steam Workshop. I will still be fixing bugs and adding smaller features in the meantime, but these will be my primary focus. Casually mentioning something, jpatt94 P.S. Yes, I know I need to update the whiteboard in Meta World. ːsteamhappyː
