The landings of the Gallipoli campaign were launched in the early morning on April 25th, 1915. The forces of the British Empire and France stormed the beaches at what they dubbed Anzac Cove and Cape Helles. The landings were a success, but a lot of lives were lost to achieve it. What followed was almost a year of fighting over the Gallipoli peninsula that ended in the Ottomans coming out victorious and maintaining control.

The day of the landings is now remembered as Anzac Day, for the bravery and sacrifice of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps at Anzac Cove specifically. Australia and New Zealand were Dominions of the British Empire and were brought in from the other side of the world to lay down their lives for a war they weren’t directly involved in.

A small part of the BlackMill Games team is at Gallipoli right now participating in ceremonies to mark the anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign and the soldiers from all sides who fought and died there. This includes the Dawn Service at Anzac Cove which is held each year to commemorate the more than 8,000 Australian soldiers who died during the campaign.
