Varthos - Heir to the Throne changes
Dear Community,
the next patch is in development! Today we would like to give you a first insight into which new features will soon expand the world of Varthos.
The highlights of the upcoming update:
Introduction of difficulty levels
This is the biggest feature of the next update. We are introducing three levels to adapt the gameplay experience to your preferences:
o Merciful: Your character persists after death – ideal for those who want to explore and get to know the world first. o Normal: The classic Varthos experience. o Brutal: For those seeking the ultimate challenge – with significantly more dangerous enemies, but also increased loot quality.
New random event: “Nibblewick”
Keep your eyes open during your runs for this nimble little thief! Nibblewick carries a sack full of stolen supplies. With each hit you land on him, there is a chance that he drops part of his loot. But be careful: do not let greed blind you! Nibblewick is extremely fast and loves to lure you straight into the next dangerous group of monsters.
Quality of Life Improvements (QoL)
Character Names: Your last used name will now be saved, so you no longer have to re-enter it every time you create a character. • Spectator Mode: The settings menu is now fully accessible in spectator mode.
Balance & Bug Fixes
- AI BehaviorA bug has been fixed where certain enemies accidentally healed players. They now correctly focus on healing their allies. • VFX: The visual effects of “Rapid Fire” are now properly removed after the skill ends. • Performance: An issue with FPS settings has been fixed; the framerate now works as intended.
Outlook:
We are working hard on controller support! A public playtest is planned for April. More details on how to participate will follow in a separate post.
