Vampires: Bloodlord Rising changes
Rulers of Blood!
Sangavia is a place of magic, and you can find it affecting your day-to-day vampiric life - especially when it comes to combat. And while these magical effects have the same impact on you as on your enemies, it's good to learn about what you're dealing with.
Knowing is half the battle, dear ruler!
Afflictions of the Land
Some of the effects are mostly tied to specific regions.
Burn
In the land of scorched earth and undying fires - Hell's Chasm - you'll find burning weapons and Hell's Hounds.
When hit and affected by Burning, you're taking damage over time for 5 seconds. Do not underestimate it! Burning also increases your movement speed. Whether you want to use this to your advantage and run, or to be quicker when closing the gap between your fangs and your enemy's neck, is up to you.
Lightbound
Around the Grove of Sorrows, a different type of magic came to be. The people here decided to target some of the best weapons in your toolkit in their pursuit of eradicating your kind.
When Lightbound, you can't use your Arcana skills or your dash for 10 seconds. With no quick escape and only your claws at your disposal, make sure you pick your battles carefully.
Poison
The swamps of the Fey Marshes are home to people in tune with the plentiful fauna around them. It is no surprise that this is where you will find poisoned weapons and Blighted Hounds.
That just means you have to be more careful. Whether hit by a poisoned sword or bitten by a wolf, you will be taking damage for 10 seconds, in addition to being slowed down.
Across Sangavia
Some effects can be found anywhere across the land.
Silver
Silver is one of the oldest weapons against your kind, and Inquisitors are not oblivious to this. Whether it affects you as a silver mist or you're hit by a silver weapon, whatever Existence damage you take, you lose the same amount of Blood on top of it. It drains both at once.
Curse
Getting hit by a cursed weapon is about as fun as it sounds. Your attack damage will be reduced by 50%, and, on top of that, your Existence will no longer regenerate while the effect is active. You'll need to find another way to keep yourself going.
Stun
When using a charging attack, you will stun your target for 6 seconds, stopping them from doing anything at all. Though keep in mind this can apply to you too, albeit you can only be stunned for 1 second - you are not a mere human after all.
Stun is perfect to counter shield-bearing enemies!
Fear
This one is a little special, as it can only apply to Inquisitors and can only be added to your equipment through enchanting. Fear makes them stop attacking and run from you for 3 seconds.
Definitely something to look forward to when you build your Enchanting Altar!
Sangavia is unforgiving. But so are you, ruler.
Happy hunting!
