Digital Edition originally launched in 2023, but at a certain point Dire Wolf took over development of the game, and since then, we’ve been hard at work rebuilding the game from the ground up. Now, we're excited to finally open it up to players!

The new version of Unmatched

Digital Edition has launched as a free update to the existing client, making it easy for current players to jump straight into the action. For newcomers who do not yet own the game, it is now available for purchase on Steam.

What’s New in Unmatched: Digital Edition?

Updated UI and Visuals

Unmatched: Digital Edition has been reimagined with all new visuals! Expect to be greeted with a revamped UI, immersive maps, and new character models! Speaking of which...

New Hero Models and Animations

The iconic heroes you know and love come to life in this new version of Unmatched: Digital Edition, with new 3D models and custom animations for each character!

A New Tutorial

Jumping in for the first time, or looking to get a rules refresher? Jump into the newly-rebuilt tutorial to learn the ropes!

Challenge Mode

A whole new Challenge Mode arrives in Unmatched: Digital Edition, with PvE scenarios featuring unique rules and win conditions. You’ll find eight challenges in the base game, six in the Cobble & Fog DLC, and four in the Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot DLC, for a total of 18 total at launch! And even better, each Challenge features a more difficult Heroic variant with tweaked rules after completing the normal version. Can you beat them all?

Action Log

A new action log keeps track of everything that’s happening during each game, giving you the tactical readout you need to scrutinize your opponents’ actions — and plan your own!

Additional Achievements

The original achievements for Unmatched: Digital Edition remain in the game, but for those who really want to test their mettle, we’ve added even more! Check out the Achievements page on Steam to see a full list.

Known Issues

As we work toward the full cross-platform release, we have a number of known issues that we are aware of and expect to have fixes for in future updates. Should you encounter anything more — or suggestions for improvements — we look forward to hearing your bug reports and feedback.

AI

  • Medusa's AI defends too rarely with Harpy-specific cards.

Audio

  • Voice over lines get overlapped/cut off by stinger and combat sound effects.

Gameplay

  • In Excalibur's Wrath, revived Harpies return with 1 health instead of their boosted max.

  • The challenge “The Bouncer” is currently disabled. It will be re-enabled at a later date.

UI/VFX

  • Alice's model can get cut off by prompts when she's Big at the top of the screen on Sarpedon.

  • When cards are discarded from deck, no animation is present.

  • HUD has some border issues on ultra wide screens.

  • No fail feedback appears when a card effect fails or has no valid target.

  • Card presentations can overlap other on-screen actions.

  • Opening/closing doors on the Heorot map creates extra undo nodes.

  • Into the Woods card art doesn't fit within the card outline.

  • Sidekick tokens don't reset to an upright direction after combat.

  • Resign/Save buttons are present in settings after the game has ended.

  • The end of game header shows "Winner" near the enemy fighter who won instead of "Defeat" when you lose a challenge.

  • Empty deck VFX briefly flashes at the start of a match.

  • Certain Schemes lack some indicator to warn when they'd have no effect.

  • Dracula's Sister art doesn't have the variety of their tabletop game counterparts.
