Repeated intro
Hey everyone! Today we're going to tell you more about the co-op!
What changed
- Gameplay
- Balance
- Events
- Maps
Now Undercat supports local two-player co-op. It also supports Steam's Remote Play Together feature.
There are two modes available.
- Main campaign co-op.
- PvP matches.
Main campaign co-op
Through the main menu, invite your friend to play the main campaign with at any time. This opens new opportunities for you as you complete the levels! Use your friend's character as a platform to jump higher, toss them to unlock new paths, or hurl them as a projectile to stun your enemies.
Share inventory slots, money, and respawn points. Have fun and wreak havoc!
PvP matches
This is a separate game mode. Here, you and your friend complete a series of levels with special victory conditions. The player that completes the level first gets a star. The winner is defined at the end of the level series. There are 5 kinds of matches - Combat, Racing, Marking, Searching, and All Modes.
Just like in the main campaign, you can grab, shake, and toss your friend! Don't miss your chance!
A little bit of history
We didn't plan for multiplayer at first. But after we showed the game to our friends and showcased it at several big events, we realized we had to do it, because the most agreed-on feedback was, "I want to play this with my friend!"
We didn't expect this. We had considered adding multiplayer, but multiplayer required a different approach from the perspectives of both development and game design. So we moved this feature to our backlog, planning to bring it at a later stage, as a separate mode in one of the updates. But the players were unanimous in the comment section, demanding, "We want co-op!"
A lot had to be redone. The development became more complex. However, the multiplayer complemented the game perfectly. The players welcomed it, and the volume of positive feedback from the change grew exponentially.
