Unbridled: That Horse Game changes
During the weeks of January 12th to January 23th, 2026, we worked on the following features:
Stable Manager
The Stable Manager has been redesigned to improve clarity and ease of use. Navigation between the different menu sections is now significantly more intuitive, and the overall layout of the menu content has been refined and streamlined.
The updated design focuses on better readability, clearer structure, and a more polished visual presentation, making stable management smoother and more enjoyable than before.
Riding Lessons & Dialogue System
The Riding Lessons game mode is designed to serve as a riding tutorial for new players, but it also plays an important role in testing and showcasing our new dialogue system in action.
Within the Riding Lessons, players will learn the fundamentals of riding while also having the opportunity to practice and refine specific riding skills.
Bridle & Halter Reins
We’ve made several visual improvements to the reins to enhance realism during riding and leading. Previously, the reins could visually pass through the horse's neck when held. This has now been corrected, with the reins properly following the outside of the horse's neck.
When a halter is equipped, only a single rein is held. While riding, the rein is taken into the hand on the side from which the player mounted the horse. When leading the horse, the right hand is consistently used.
The reins now move and hang in a more natural way, adding an extra layer of realism to riding interactions.
3D Work
All active interaction and riding animations are finished, covering both the horse and the human characters.
Alongside this, adjustments are being made to the saddle setup, with special attention given to proper fitting on larger horse models to maintain visual accuracy and correct deformation.
Further refinements include adjustments to the eye UVs, as well as finishing up the base textures for feathering, beards, and mustaches to bring more depth and realism to these details.
Morph targets are also being added for the mustaches, allowing them to move naturally with the horse’s lips and expressions.
Work has now begun on the coat system. The first focus is the black base coat, followed by the initial dilution passes applied to that base color. This includes setting up a structured list of dilutions and colors, using gene names rather than full descriptive names.
The base colors currently implemented are Black, Chestnut, and Bay. On top of these, a wide range of dilutions and white markings are being developed, including Cream, Pearl, Champagne, Dun, Silver, Pangaré/Mealy, Flaxen, Sooty, Gray, Roan, Rabicano, Overo, Sabino, Tobiano, Splashed White, and Leopard with Leopard Pattern variations.
As always, this is complemented by a large variety of facial markings and leg markings to allow for extensive visual diversity.
