Welcome to our latest dev update for Tyr.

To start, thank you for the turnout in our last playtest on May 2nd, 2026. It was our largest test to date, and seeing so many of you jump in at once was incredible (not so much for the servers as for our team).

As always, we offer these dev updates in video and written form. Find the video below and read on for the written version.

Why are we doing another extended playtest so soon?

A few reasons:

  1. Last weekend was easily our biggest playtest turnout yet, and it felt like the right moment to try a longer play window.

  2. We were not fully prepared for the spike at the start of the last test, and some of you ran into early server issues. We believe we have addressed those problems, and we want to validate the fixes under real-world conditions.

  3. You have been asking for more opportunities to play Tyr, and we want that too.

Important note: this playtest will not include any new content. It will use the same build as the most recent playtest, and only Standard Queues will be available for the full duration while we focus on stability.

Want to join?

If you are not already a Tyr playtester, there are two ways to get access:

  1. Request access on Steam. Access is randomized, but we bring players in waves leading up to each playtest.

  2. Ask for an invite in our Discord: https://discord.gg/tyr.

ICYMI Tyr's entering Early Access this summer

We’re still targeting a Summer release window for Tyr in Early Access.

Early Access is how we plan to launch: getting the core experience into your hands, then iterating quickly with the larger community Early Access will afford us. That iteration, of course, includes adding content, balancing, quality-of-life improvements, and continuing to expand the game with your feedback guiding.

We announced our summer release window with a brand new trailer.

Did you catch Rook’s tank skin update?

Wanted to call some attention to something cool that might have been missed in the wash of recent news; we recently updated Rook’s tank skin with a refreshed look and color scheme.

You'll be able to earn this skin during playtests through Territory Scans (either as a drop on its own or through the gold that occasionally drops), though it'll be a rare sight for a while.

Tyr HQ launched with support from the community

Want to test builds, learn maps, and theorycraft? Tyr HQ might be for you. The new build planner / wiki launched, and it features some robust tools to help you spec vehicles and grab an edge on map knowledge.

You'll find the site at https://tyrhq.com.

Here's how the site's described in the footer: Tyr HQ is an independent third-party companion for Tyr: study every tank, pressure-test your builds, and track official Stoke Games updates in one place.

Next competitive tournament: $2,500 prize pool (May 16)

As previously announced, our next competitive Tyr tournament is set for May 16, 2026, with a $2,500 USD prize pool.

Prize breakdown:

  • 1st place: $1,300 USD

  • 2nd place: $700 USD

  • 3rd and 4th place: $250 USD each

Registration closes on May 10th.

Want in? Head to our Discord, grab the Competitive role from the role bot (if you cannot find it, ask and we will help), then sign up for the tournament. Do not have a team yet? No problem, we also have a Free Agents signup sheet.

If you want to be notified when Tyr enters Early Access, add us to your wishlist on Steam. Valve will email you when the game goes live.

As always, see you on the battlefield. 🫡
