addedWHAT'S NEW?The biggest feature is of course the brand new tool , Hugh! If you've not been keeping up with al the news, here's how it works! You get access to Hugh around the point where you get tool upgrades more generally, and with Hugh you can remove the material (think colour, but with some lighting properties etc) from any trinket's subsection, and then apply it to any other!
removedWHAT'S NEW?Removing the material from a section of a trinket leaves it as 'plain wood', which is a nice look all by itself... but we can't wait to see what outlandish creations you come up with using the 30 materials in the game!
removedWHAT'S NEW?As you remove materials, they're saved in your material jars so you can hoard them, then pick and choose at your leisure!
changedWHAT'S NEW?That said, in the base game, none of the named characters will specify a material-swapped trinket - this would've required a huge rewrite, plus localisation. Doesn't mean you can't make unique trinkets for them, it's just that you have to be mindful of how specific their requests are beforehand!
changedWHAT'S NEW?Of course it's a free update and we wouldn't release one without a themed cosmetic set for you to enjoy - the Maker's Fortune set is all about splotches and splashes of colour! Oh, and jars, naturally 🫙

WHAT'S NEW?

The biggest feature is of course the brand new tool, Hugh! If you've not been keeping up with al the news, here's how it works! You get access to Hugh around the point where you get tool upgrades more generally, and with Hugh you can remove the material (think colour, but with some lighting properties etc) from any trinket's subsection, and then apply it to any other!

Removing the material from a section of a trinket leaves it as 'plain wood', which is a nice look all by itself... but we can't wait to see what outlandish creations you come up with using the 30 materials in the game!

As you remove materials, they're saved in your material jars so you can hoard them, then pick and choose at your leisure!

The application of materials is achieved using the same tool, and can also be applied to any trinket in an upcycled creation, as well as their subsections.

The application/removal process takes 1 timeslot, just like any other trinket minigame, and "Stranger" customers will often ask for a twist on the usual! Like this fussy person here:

That said, in the base game, none of the named characters will specify a material-swapped trinket - this would've required a huge rewrite, plus localisation. Doesn't mean you can't make unique trinkets for them, it's just that you have to be mindful of how specific their requests are beforehand!

On the topic of customers, look out for this one - they'll unlock Hugh for you:

And we don't stop there - for some of you this next bit is even bigger news... you'll finally be able to see what Baby Grandmas look like!

Of course it's a free update and we wouldn't release one without a themed cosmetic set for you to enjoy - the Maker's Fortune set is all about splotches and splashes of colour! Oh, and jars, naturally 🫙

Also we've heard your cries, and we've increased the number of purchasable Stash Upgrades available in the game. You can now unlock 264 slots in the Stash, and all the new ones are bought from the usual place - the storage chest in the corner of the workbench view!

We've added 5 new achievements because we know you love them so much, and there's also 1 new quest - Cora will appear and they basically unlock the 1.5 trinkets for you. Speaking of which...

Bug Fixes and Other Updates

NOTE: a bunch of audio balancing has gone on, so make sure you go and sort your volumes out, don't be surprised if something has changed and you need to tweak!

  • Donoval will no longer increase his offer price indefinitely if you keep taking away a trinket and placing it back on the mat. Shame on ya'll for trying to fleece the Best Boy!

  • If you earned a quest related achievement that didn't fire during a play session, then it will now trigger the next time you load the game!

  • Trinkets now face toward the camera when entering Upcycling!

  • The Eldritch Idol's Head has been adjusted so it fits onto its body a bit better.

  • The Carnival Mask now has an additional 2 upcycling sockets for gems/eyes.

  • The Sleeping Cat Ornament now has a socket for a gem and also an exclusive one for the Woolen Mouse.

  • Embellishments can now be added to Nimble Jack's Bicorne.

  • The Magnifying Glass now connects to Hands.

  • The music box key now has its own exclusive socket type and connects with the Woolen Mouse, Goblin Music Box and most Plushies.

  • We've corrected the orientation of the gem/eye socket on the end of the Bellows.

  • The socket on the Simple Fork has been corrected so it can now be attached to trays as intended.

  • Many other adjustments have been made to existing trinkets to incorporate a bunch of the new 1.5 trinkets.

  • The correct Mushroom Culture icon for the bedpipe is now used in Customisation Mode!

  • The lo-fi track (used on the Credits screen) has been linked to the Music slider so it can now be muted.

  • We've tweaked the shop lighting to make it a little brighter especially during the earlier parts of the day.

  • We've added drop shadow font to a couple of areas where it was missing on the End of Day screen.

  • The Time of Day counter reset SFX which triggers on the start of a new day has been moved to the right-hand channel where it should be.

  • The Title Screen music will no longer be excessively loud when the game first loads.

  • Background music once again plays when you visit districts!

  • We've had a general rebalancing of SFX across the game.

  • You can now zoom into the Noticeboard (for... reasons that will become clear 🥲)

  • A small handful of typos have been corrected.

THERE'S MORE?!

You bet! Today the first paid story expansion for Trash Goblin is released!

Trash Goblin The Artist of Brimhaven

In The Artist of Brimhaven - which takes place after you've seen all the story content in the base game - you will be teaming up with Aimon, Donoval, Aunty and more familiar faces, using your skills as a trinketeer to rebuild and renovate an abandoned district in Silver City.

Feature breakdown:

  • Brand new storyline

  • 5+ hours of content playable after completing the main game

  • A new district! Brimhaven needs repair and you help rebuild a community

  • 5 new achievements

We know you'll love seeing so many familiar faces returning, and seeing all your hard work result in an empty and ruined set of buildings turn into a bustling and thriving neighbourhood!

Trash Goblin Found Family Cosmetic Pack

A variety of cosmetics based around fan-favourite characters Donoval, Aunty, Mushromeo, Mycelle & Jaq - as voted for by our discord community!

  • 10 bedding variants

  • 10 wallpaper variants

  • 5 customer mat variants

  • 5 workmat variants

  • 5 bedpipe

  • 5 shop signs

ROADMAP... THE PREVIOUS MONTHS:

TODAY:

  • Cosmetic pack released!✅

  • 1.5 launched as well✅✅

  • DLC launched too!✅✅✅

WHAT'S NEXT?

We're not stopping the Goblin train with 1.5, oh no! If the DLC is popular, we've got plenty of ideas for more, and besides there are a bunch of features and improvements that you've been asking for which we're excitedly debating, and planning exactly how to add to the game. I think its safe to say there's going to be a 1.6 before long!

But we've been hard at work on these two giant updates for months now so we're going to slow down a little bit and take stock of what we really want to do before committing - as always if you want to come and hang out with other goblins and chat about the game with the devs, even influence our next updates, our discord is open to all!
