addedA big thank you to everyone for your patience as we've worked through the major obstacles surrounding electron and YouTube's new embedding limitations. We're pleased to share that we have, after countless hours of trying, come up with a solution that brings YouTube embedding along with PIP back!
changedYouTube EmbeddingDue to changes in YouTube's embedding policy, we had to come up with a creative solution where we changed the origin of the app itself along with tweaking headers to get things working. While this was extremely challenging in and of itself, the bigger issue was that a different origin meant old user data would not load.
addedStorage OverhaulWe took the opportunity from the obstacle presented above to do a systematic refactor of the entire game's save state system. The result is a faster and more reliable experience. Considering that we the game can same many times a second when simming at high speeds, increased efficiency here results in lower overhead and faster sim speeds. All this being said, we encourage all users to backup their saves out of an abundance of caution. The new build is programmed to detect old game states and migrate them to the new standard and origin (which takes up to 10 seconds when first opening the new build and you may or may not see a flash). It leaves your existing save state unchanged and if you go back to a legacy build, you will resume from the last state before opening version 2.5. Progress in 2.5+ is not backward compatible with legacy versions. If there are any issues, you can of course reach out to us at info@cinqmarsmedia.org and we can provide a code to restore your progress using the game's "restitution" feature.
changed"Step" Bug & New Electron VersionsThere was a prevalent issue where some users could not step through the game at initialization due to the major electron upgrade. This was an unacceptable and embarrassing oversight that has been patched. Migrating to newer electron versions is seductive as it can dramatically improve performance but it can come at the expense of stability in many cases. We have since gone through and improved stability across the board with the newer versions and again apologize for this issue.
changedFinancial Correlation SandboxWe've made dramatic improvements to the tool that we hope will enable better and more thorough trading strategies in the game. Be sure to check it out.

A big thank you to everyone for your patience as we've worked through the major obstacles surrounding electron and YouTube's new embedding limitations. We're pleased to share that we have, after countless hours of trying, come up with a solution that brings YouTube embedding along with PIP back!

YouTube Embedding

Due to changes in YouTube's embedding policy, we had to come up with a creative solution where we changed the origin of the app itself along with tweaking headers to get things working. While this was extremely challenging in and of itself, the bigger issue was that a different origin meant old user data would not load.

Storage Overhaul

We took the opportunity from the obstacle presented above to do a systematic refactor of the entire game's save state system. "Step" Bug & New Electron Versions

There was a prevalent issue where some users could not step through the game at initialization due to the major electron upgrade. This was an unacceptable and embarrassing oversight that has been patched. Migrating to newer electron versions is seductive as it can dramatically improve performance but it can come at the expense of stability in many cases. We have since gone through and improved stability across the board with the newer versions and again apologize for this issue.

Financial Correlation Sandbox

We've made dramatic improvements to the tool that we hope will enable better and more thorough trading strategies in the game. Be sure to check it out.

We can't thank the community enough for your generous patience and support. Please reach out anytime at info@cinqmarsmedia.org to say hi.
