removedYouTube Videos Open ExternallyDue to changes in YouTube's embedding policy, videos no longer cleanly rendered in-game. (YouTube now severs embedding in electron apps). This was unsightly and distracting for players. We've now updated the game so that videos launch externally. (We were unable to find a solution that allowed us to preserve in-game embedding.
addedEasy Mode (25% discounted upgrades)A lot of players have given feedback that it takes too long to arrive at the late-game. All players now have the option of toggling on Easy Mode in the title menu. All upgrades are discounted 25% while milestones require 25% more net worth to reach. We're trying to figure how out many margin calls should be required before this feature is available, but for now it's unlocked immediately.
changedMajor Electron UpgradeRequiring a sizable refactor, the game now uses the most recent version of electron allowing it to take advantage of webGPU protocols more effectively. The result is better performance (5-10% on our systems) and stability.
addedFinancial Correlation SandboxWe've added a new milestone that we hope can help get players thinking about how different financial indicators work together. Reaching this milestone unlocks a website preview that acts as an interactive visual sandbox. Explore historical correlations among technical indicators and nudge their biases to see ripple effects across the broader financial landscape. Upload your own data for deeper insight. A powerful educational and inferential tool.

YouTube Videos Open Externally

Due to changes in YouTube's embedding policy, videos no longer cleanly rendered in-game. (YouTube now severs embedding in electron apps). This was unsightly and distracting for players. We've now updated the game so that videos launch externally. (We were unable to find a solution that allowed us to preserve in-game embedding.

Easy Mode (25% discounted upgrades)

A lot of players have given feedback that it takes too long to arrive at the late-game. All players now have the option of toggling on Easy Mode in the title menu. All upgrades are discounted 25% while milestones require 25% more net worth to reach. We're trying to figure how out many margin calls should be required before this feature is available, but for now it's unlocked immediately.

Major Electron Upgrade

Requiring a sizable refactor, the game now uses the most recent version of electron allowing it to take advantage of webGPU protocols more effectively. The result is better performance (5-10% on our systems) and stability.

Financial Correlation Sandbox

We've added a new milestone that we hope can help get players thinking about how different financial indicators work together. Reaching this milestone unlocks a website preview that acts as an interactive visual sandbox. Explore historical correlations among technical indicators and nudge their biases to see ripple effects across the broader financial landscape. Upload your own data for deeper insight. A powerful educational and inferential tool.

Other Updates

  • Updated brain.js framework for AI bots

  • Added option to open all links externally in title menu

  • Fixed rare ETF crashing bug

  • Use left/right arrow keys to control sim speed more granularly

  • Various other stability improvements, particularly with save state

  • Performance optimizations that can improve sim speed by up to 15% in certain situations

  • App will now offer to disable hardware acceleration without GPU at launch rather than crash (with steep performance penalty)

Thank you so much for all your support and patience. As always, the previous build is available under the branch "previous" and please reach out to us at info@cinqmarsmedia.org with feedback, questions or issues and we will get back to you asap.
