addedHi gardeners! As you may have noticed, our game keeps growing, and so does the number of people adding it to their wishlist. So we’ve gathered the most common questions from players, along with what we think is important for you to know. Ready?
changed• Is Tiny Eden more realistic or more casual? The game leans toward realism. While some systems are simplified for gameplay, it aims to include realistic growing techniques that can also be useful in real life.
changed• What makes Tiny Eden different from other gardening/farming games? We started working on the game because we couldn’t find a farming sim set inside the player’s apartment. Most farming sims offer an idyllic semi-open world where you build your dream countryside home, using familiar perspectives and tools that haven’t changed much since Harvest Moon. Instead, we place the player in a city environment with all its limitations, and at the same time, its unique opportunities.
changed• How realistic is the growing system? We aim to stay scientifically accurate, but sometimes we have to make compromises for gameplay. However, if you apply the same techniques in real life, things should grow just fine.
changed• Can I control light, temperature, and soil conditions?Yes! Light depends on where you place the plant, and you can use shading nets or grow lights. Temperature depends on location and season. Balconies are warmer than rooftops but colder than indoor spaces. You can control it using heaters and air conditioners.. Light depends on plant placement and tools like shading nets or grow lights. Temperature varies by location and season, and can be adjusted using heaters and air conditioners.

Hi gardeners! As you may have noticed, our game keeps growing, and so does the number of people adding it to their wishlist. So we’ve gathered the most common questions from players, along with what we think is important for you to know. Ready?

‼️General Questions

• What genre is the game?

Tiny Eden blends elements from several genres, primarily economic simulation, farming sim, and life sim.

• Is Tiny Eden more realistic or more casual?

The game leans toward realism. While some systems are simplified for gameplay, it aims to include realistic growing techniques that can also be useful in real life.

• What makes Tiny Eden different from other gardening/farming games?

We started working on the game because we couldn’t find a farming sim set inside the player’s apartment. Most farming sims offer an idyllic semi-open world where you build your dream countryside home, using familiar perspectives and tools that haven’t changed much since Harvest Moon. Instead, we place the player in a city environment with all its limitations, and at the same time, its unique opportunities.

• Is the game story-driven or sandbox-focused?

The game includes a story, but overall it leans more toward a sandbox experience with core simulator elements.

• What is the tone of the game, is it relaxing or challenging?

It depends on the player. You can relax by growing plants and decorating your apartment, or focus on efficiency, production systems, and even plant breeding.

• What inspired Tiny Eden?

The game was inspired by the team’s experience during the pandemic, missing countryside homes while living in cities. They experimented with urban farming in a Warsaw apartment and, after a successful harvest in 2023, decided to create a game that recreates that experience.

🧑‍🌾 Gardening, Growing, and Simulation

• How realistic is the growing system?

We aim to stay scientifically accurate, but sometimes we have to make compromises for gameplay. However, if you apply the same techniques in real life, things should grow just fine.

• Can I control light, temperature, and soil conditions?

Yes!

As for soil, see the next question!

• Does the game simulate soil chemistry? If yes, to what extent?

Yes. Soil consists of seven agricultural components: compost, sand, clay, perlite, coco coir, peat, and one secret ingredient.

It includes chemical and physical parameters such as:

  • NPK and micronutrients

  • Aeration

  • Water permeability and retention

  • Acidity

Plants consume nutrients and are affected by:

  • Organic degradation

  • Soil-borne diseases

  • Growth hormones and immune boosters

  • Fertilizers (pellet, liquid, aerosol)

You can also attract beneficial insects and pollinators. Fun fact: this is all based on our real life experience. If we've tried it in real life, it made its way into the game.

• How many plant species can I grow?

The base game includes around 40 plant species, including microgreens, root vegetables, flowers, and berry bushes.

• Are there plans to expand on this in the future?

If everything goes well, the team plans to expand into mushrooms, vines, and trees.

• Are there different difficulties in growing different plants?

Plants have different growing requirements, but none are locked behind plant progress. That said, you may need to improve your standing among the other apartment residents in order to buy the seeds. Top Tip: Real-world knowledge can provide an advantage.

Do plants have different growth stages?

Yes, plants have four main stages:

  • Sprout

  • Seedling

  • Mature

  • Wilting

Early stages require care (weeding, disease treatment, maintaining conditions). Mature plants are harvested and maintained. Wilting can signal replacement or be used for specific purposes like attracting pollinators.

• Is genetics involved in the growing system?

Each harvest gives the player a choice between profit and research. Research unlocks the ability to create new plant varieties. That said - while real-life plant breeding is mostly predictable, in the game it’s more luck-based. You might create frost-resistant purple tomatoes in one run, and giant but fragile sour ones in another.

Players can also share their varieties with each other.

• Can I specialize in certain crops or run large-scale production?

The player can specialize in specific crops if they want. However, the scale is always relatively small, limited to balconies and a rooftop. The economy revolves around recipes that require multiple ingredients, so growing a variety of crops is encouraged. Companion planting also plays a role, for example basil can protect tomatoes from pests.

🧑‍🍳Cooking and Economy

• What can I do with the plants that I grow?

Plants grow and produce crops. Crops are harvested, processed into food, sold, and generate money and reputation. Money is reinvested, and reputation unlocks new opportunities.

• How does cooking work in the game?

As your reputation grows, you unlock recipes. Some ingredients are predefined, while others are flexible, allowing players to experiment. Each ingredient affects the final dish.

• How many recipes are available?

At least 40.

• Can you make your own custom recipes?

No, and we don’t plan to add that.

• Can I sell raw crops/plants as well as cooked dishes? Or is what I sell limited to “processed” goods?

In version 1.0, you’ll only be able to sell cooked dishes, but we’re open to adding raw crops or even seedlings in the future.

• Can I focus purely on growing without cooking?

No, but we’ve designed cooking to be as simple as possible.

🏡Home Expansion and Customization

• Can I renovate and expand my apartment?

Yes, you can change walls and floors, expand your apartment, and unlock rooftop space.

• How large can my indoor garden become?

Up to several hundred plants indoors and on the rooftop.

• To what extent can I customize the interior design?

You can customize materials, but not the layout geometry.

• Can I dedicate my entire apartment to just growing plants?

There are some fixed elements like the kitchen or lab, but otherwise yes.

• Is there a rooftop or someplace that acts as an “outdoor” section for growing plants?

The rooftop is a key part of the game. Some plants can only be grown there.

• Does my home layout impact the growing efficiency in any way?

Each room and balcony has unique environmental conditions that affect plant growth.

⏲️Time and Life Balance

• How does time work in the game?

Time runs at a 60:1 ratio.

• Is there any time pressure or failure if I mismanage my time?

No. As long as you take care of your plants, you’ll be fine.

• Is there a “game over” at all?

No. You can run out of money, but it’s easy to recover.

🍃Atmosphere and Immersion

• Is Tiny Eden played in first-person?

Yes

• Can I change the modes, e.g. from first person to third person?

No

• Can I listen to the music outside of the game?

Yes, on all major platforms. We'll share links here soon!

• Are there any daily rituals or cozy elements for the player to perform (in-game)?

This really is entirely up to the player. Some players might start by growing jalapeños for fun, then move on to tomatoes or a full Mediterranean setup. Others might see that and try it themselves. Over time, home gardening can become a natural part of life. It’s relaxing and can even be cost-effective if you grow things you regularly eat. This project is about sharing practical knowledge through gameplay. Think of it as a simple, interactive introduction to growing your own food.

🌇 Development and the Future

• Why has the game gone through redevelopment?

We wanted to deliver a higher-quality experience!

• Will the game enter Early Access?

No, it will launch as a full 1.0 release.

• What are your post-launch plans? Will you keep working on new content/plants?

Yes. We plan DLCs, free updates, and major content expansions including new plants, recipes, mechanics, and locations.

• Will Tiny Eden work on the Steam Deck?

Yes

• Will you have a native Linux port?

No promises right now, but, we are looking into it
