The Undercut: Racing Manager changes
Alpha 0.3 — Car Traits, Part Rolls, Live Replay, and Playable Free Practice
The biggest update yet — and the version powering our Steam Next Fest demo starting June 15.
This update overhauls how cars work, how parts behave, and how you experience race weekends. Every system here adds a new layer of decision-making.
Car Trait System
Cars now have traits that define their personality on track. A car isn't just a collection of stats — it has character.
Traits emerge from your development choices and evolve over the season. A car built for raw speed might be brutal on tyres. One optimised for reliability might lack the edge in qualifying. You're not just building a fast car — you're shaping how it behaves in every situation.
Part Roll System
Developing a new part is no longer a guaranteed upgrade. Every part now rolls with variance — you might get a component that exceeds expectations, or one that underperforms despite the investment.
This changes R&D from a linear upgrade path into a risk-reward decision. Do you push for an aggressive development target and risk a bad roll? Or play it safe with incremental improvements?
Failed rolls aren't wasted — they inform your next attempt. The system rewards long-term planning over short-term gambles.
Live Replay
Missed a key moment during the race? The live replay system lets you rewind and watch critical overtakes, pit stops, and incidents as they happened.
No more wondering how you lost P3 in turn 7. Watch it back, understand what happened, and adjust your strategy.
Simulation Screen
A new dedicated simulation view for when you want to manage without watching every lap. Monitor the race through data — gaps, tyre status, pit windows, and pace trends — all updating in real time.
Playable Live Sessions — Free Practice
Free practice is no longer just a menu. You can now run live practice sessions on track — watch your drivers learn the circuit, test setups, and gather data in real time.
What This Means for the Demo
All of the above is in the Steam Next Fest demo. When you download it starting June 15, you're playing the 0.3 build — car traits, part rolls, live replay, simulation screen, and playable free practice included.
