Good afternoon, friends. This is Orscat.

After sighing for days over the growing number of issues with the old engine, I made a tough decision: just port the game to Ren'Py. Who else would start planning a new engine remake just a week after their game’s release? Oh, it’s me.

So here’s the full update plan:

Regarding the issue of line breaks causing word separation in the English version, it seemed difficult to achieve in the old engine. However, it can be solved by porting to Renpy.

Next, the achievement system and Russian language version—these will be launched together with the new engine version.

Also, the fullscreen black screen issue mentioned earlier will be resolved in the new engine as well.

In addition, I’ve been experimenting with implementing a hover dictionary feature in Ren'Py using shared code from other developers. For example, in the monastery dinner event, choosing different options for the priest’s request leads to different dialogues. However, these variations are not clearly indicated in the current version. With Ren’Py, I can use this kind of hyperlink format to show players: “This part changes based on your choice:”

There are many such variations, but in the current version they’re really not obvious. If no one notices them, then I’ve written them all for nothing XD

Of course, learning a new engine and porting everything over is a very long process. Optimistically speaking, it’d be great if it can be done within this year.

Finally, if you appreciate Renaissance history and culture, can accept a writing style that tucks all kinds of clues into unassuming dialogue, or enjoy a taste of yuri (speaking of which—yesterday I saw a Steam review where someone thought my game is actually true yuri), then give Sojourn Witch and Her Graduation Project a try. Thank you, meow~
