Performance & Stability

  • Critical Crash ResolutionAddressed a critical crash that could, in certain configurations, lead to GPU driver failures.
  • Reliable Level StreamingFixed a rare error where the player character was not correctly identified upon loading, preventing null reference issues.
  • General Optimization: Implemented stability improvements and minor optimizations to ensure consistent performance, particularly during longer play sessions.

Level Flow & Navigation

  • Intro Forest Rework: The starting forest path is now more linear and directed, minimizing extraneous side paths that previously encouraged unnecessary backtracking.

  • Reduced Wandering: Travel time from the starting point to the cave entrance has been shortened, balancing atmosphere preservation with a reduction in early-game friction.

  • Improved GuidanceVisibility and landmark placement along the primary route have been adjusted to subtly guide the player toward the intended destination without removing all opportunities for exploration.
  • Smoother MovementResolved minor collision and geometry issues in confined spaces, notably in the cave, to prevent the player from being unexpectedly blocked or slowed.

Gameplay & Systems

  • Lantern Fixes and Adjustments:

    • Duplication Bug Resolved: Rapid equipping/unequipping no longer spawns multiple lanterns. Only one active lantern is permitted.

    • Enhanced ReadabilityThe lantern’s effective light radius has been slightly increased to improve environmental readability, while maintaining the game’s core atmosphere of tension and darkness.
  • Cave Traversal RefinementReduced the frequency of awkward crouch-only segments and frustrating "head bump" moments, ensuring smoother navigation while preserving a deliberate sense of claustrophobia.

Compass & Objectives

  • Precise TrackingThe compass and objective tracking system has been corrected. The compass now accurately points to the exact locations of all active objectives, providing clear direction for player progression.
  • Alignment: Minor adjustments were made to objective placement and triggers to better align with player expectations and the intended route flow.

Saves & Checkpoints

  • Clear Save Confirmation: Upon reaching a checkpoint, the game now displays a highly visible “SAVING…” message instead of a minimalist icon, providing immediate and unambiguous feedback that progress has been secured.

Tutorials & User Experience

  • Action Prompts ClarifiedAdded or refined tutorial prompts for fundamental actions: Sprinting (Shift), Crouching (Ctrl), and equipping/using the Lantern (F).
  • System Explanations Improved: Enhanced explanations for core systems (Leshy, Wendigo, crafting) to better communicate:

    • What factors these threats react to

    • The appropriate timing for slow movement versus sprinting.

    • The effective use and timing of survival tools and crafted items.

  • UI ReadabilityIntroduced a new, minimal craftbench icon and made minor UI adjustments for better overall readability.

Localization

  • Pipeline FixesResolved technical issues with the text import/export pipelines for Georgian and Russian languages.
  • AccuracyUpdated several tutorial and system messages to ensure correct display in both languages.
