The Relic: First Guardian - Statement from the Development Team Project Cloud Games
It has been almost one week since the launch of The Relic: First Guardian, the dark fantasy ARPG on PlayStation 5 and PC. Since its debut, the developers at Project Cloud Games have been continuing to improve the stability of the game, also focusing on developing and expanding the core experiences.
The developers wanted to publicly acknowledge that there is still a long way to go.
Hard at work with six completed patches, and with another coming this evening, August 6th, the following message is the direct, official statement from Project Cloud Games.
Post-launch update and plans ahead – Project Cloud Games
Thank you to everyone who has shared their feedback and support since the launch of The Relic: First Guardian.
The launch did not meet the standard of experience we intended to deliver. We sincerely apologise to everyone who pre-ordered the game, added it to their wishlist, supported us, and waited so patiently for its release.
During the final stages of launch preparation, our technical verification of several changes was not sufficient. As a result, some large dungeons did not unload correctly after players left those areas and remained in memory.
As this accumulated, it caused framerate drops and texture-loading issues in some environments, as well as problems that prevented certain events and boss encounter triggers from functioning correctly. These are issues that we should have identified and resolved before release, and we take full responsibility for that.
Since launch, we have treated these issues as our highest priority and deployed multiple updates across PC and PlayStation 5. Fixes addressing the underlying structural issue have been rolled out across the platforms, and we are continuing to resolve and verify related problems affecting players who are continuing with their existing save data.
The main improvements delivered so far include:
Fixes for events and boss encounter triggers that could prevent progression
Improvements to overall stability and performance
Adjustments to combat responsiveness and balance
Improved rewards from enemies and world chests
Additional progression and crafting materials placed throughout the world
The game has continued to improve through these updates, but we do not consider our work complete. We are still reviewing the issues reported by players and continuing the necessary fixes and verification. We will keep delivering patches and improvements across each platform.
The Relic: First Guardian is a semi-open-world dark fantasy action RPG inspired by Korean folklore. Players explore the world of Arsilthus, uncover the stories left behind across its lands, and develop their own combat style through different equipment, Runes, and Relics.
While continuing to improve the stability of the game, we will also focus on developing and expanding these core experiences.
The main priorities for future updates will include:
Balance and reward improvements based on player feedback
Additional content, including new events and boss encounters that expand the world and stories of Arsilthus
We will share further details about new content and upcoming updates through our official channels as soon as they are ready.
We will continue listening to your feedback and demonstrate our commitment through meaningful updates as we work to make The Relic: First Guardian a more complete and rewarding action RPG.
Once again, thank you to everyone who has played the game and shared their honest feedback with us.
