Hey everyone,

We’re excited to share that the playable demo for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is now live as part of Steam Next Fest (June 15 to 22) starting right now!

This demo will be available for a limited time during the event. If you’ve been curious to experience the tension of our pirate-era cosmic horror, gather your squad: now is the moment to begin your exploration into the jungle.

Check out the gameplay:

What's in the demo?

For those who participated in our recent Closed Beta, this demo features the same chaotic, high-stakes gameplay you experienced, but with a major upgrade: 5 forts are available for exploration!

Whether you are returning to the jungle or setting foot under the canopy for the very first time, here is a taste of the core loop and mechanics you will experience:

  • Expedition Preparation: Meet up at your galleon hub to coordinate your squad of up to 4 players, purchase vital gear, and select your destination before rowboating into the unknown.

  • A Hostile, Shifting Jungle: Explore thick, overgrown environments in search of cursed treasures. Tread carefully - the jungle reacts to your actions. The more noise and destruction you cause, the more the environment wakes up to hunt you.

  • The Sabotage of Sanity: Monitor your mental health closely. Taking damage drains your sanity, causing reality to warp around you. You will experience hallucinations designed to break your team's communication, hide deadly traps, and even make your allies look like terrifying monsters.

If a teammate dies and isn't promptly revived, they will become corrupted, returning as an undead hostile to hunt down the rest of the squad. Survival demands absolute trust - but in the jungle, you can't even trust your own eyes.

Thank you for your support!

Bringing this demo to Steam Next Fest is an incredibly important milestone for us. It is the first time the gates of the jungle are wide open for the entire community to experience the paranoia and chaos of The Mound together.

Developing this project has been an amazing journey for the team, and seeing the game in players' hands means a great deal to us.

If you decide to try the demo, thank you. Every session played, every piece of feedback shared on our Discord, and every wishlist added genuinely supports us as we head into the final stretch of development.

We are currently focused on final polish and refinements ahead of our official release on July 15th. If you enjoy what you experience during Next Fest, make sure to wishlist the game to follow us through to launch:
