The Last Cat in the Universe changes
Hi everyone.
If you are reading this, thank you for your interest in The Last Cat in the Universe. We want to take this first post to briefly introduce ourselves and explain the origin of this project.
We are Apamate Studio, a team made up of two brothers from Venezuela.
Until recently, we were dedicated to developing a much larger and more complex project. However, seeing our resources running low, we made a difficult decision: to pause that main development to create something smaller, more manageable, and that we could finish in a few months.
That is how this game was born. We didn't want to make a "filler" project, but rather take the opportunity to explore a different narrative in a genre we like.
What is the game about?
We set ourselves a challenge: to tell an emotional story using the simple mechanics of an incremental (idle) game.
In The Last Cat in the Universe, you assume the role of an AI on a drifting spaceship. It is important to clarify that you do not interact directly with the cat as in a traditional pet simulator. Your mission is to care for its environment: repairing the ship's systems, ensuring it has food, and watching it live, play, and sleep, while you try to decipher the ship's memory logs.
It is an experience of companionship and observation, designed to be relaxing but with a narrative background.
Music and Memory
For this project, we are collaborating with singer-songwriter Diora Salazar.
The music in this game is not just background accompaniment; it is closely linked to the story the AI is trying to reconstruct. The melodies and sounds play a fundamental role in the atmosphere of loneliness and hope we want to convey.
The game's art also has a very personal inspiration. The cat's design and animations are based on Chanel, Diora's cat, who sadly passed away a few months ago.
We wanted this game to be a tribute to her. Every time you see the cat play, sleep, or look out the ship's window, know that there is a real memory full of love behind those pixels.
Join the journey
We are working hard to release the game very soon. If you want to support us:
Add the game to your Wishlist (it helps us immensely with store visibility).
Join our Discord if you want to chat with us.
Thank you for giving us a chance. We hope you enjoy this cat's company as much as we do.
