The HELL changes
New to The HELL? Welcome, sincerely and hellishly.
The HELL is a fantasy city-building simulation set in our twisted version of Hell, where you carve a domain out of chaos, keep your systems alive, stop Titans from escaping, and prove you’re worthy of the Hell Governor title.
What you’ll do in The HELL
Build your infernal domain with structures, upgrades, and production chains that keep the realm running.
Balance survival and expansion by managing growth, upkeep, and catastrophic events that can end your realm.
Confront Titans drawn from different mythologies and uncover the historical chaos they bring.
Travel through time to witness their legends unravel, and face what they leave behind.
Prefer something with a slower pace? Try Endless Mode, our more laid-back, card-based city-building experience: gather, build, pay tribute, rinse and repeat. After all, every Hell Governor deserves a chilled-out session once in a while.
New Governors can jump into Missions for guided progression, or relax in Endless Mode for a slower, card-based loop.
Purgatoria x Lunar New Year
Galloping into the Year of the Horse, Purgatoria just got a Lunar New Year fit check.
Fresh, festive and ready for Governors.
New Map Visuals
We’ve revamped the maps across all Missions, giving Hell a fresh coat of chaos. Expect more vibrant, more dynamic environments that make every district feel clearer, sharper, and more alive.
Take a look at the screenshots below and tell us which map hits hardest.
Reworked Structures and Lighting
Previously, our entire world was built at a massively oversized scale. We’ve gone back through the whole environment and performed a full down-scaling pass across structures and set dressing.
This means that lighting now behaves more naturally, we can achieve the same mood with fewer lights, and performance strain is reduced. On top of that, the smaller scale lets us sharpen silhouettes, tighten details, and make every structure feel more grounded and intentional.
Achieving this also allows us to re-introduce the Shadow Quality option in the Settings page.
Bug Fixes
Bug hunting is part of daily life down here, and 0.4.0 comes with a round of fixes across the game.
Here are a few of the more notable ones:
Fixed an issue where Tribute did not reduce Tonic upkeep for the Babel of Lies
Unlocking Sinful lore causes the Titan to escape immediately
Titan Escape Meter was not showing up in Mission 1
Description for structures when translated to other locales
