The Crimson Contract: Patch 0.9.1

Patch 0.9.1 is a heavy stability pass on multiplayer and the horde's AI, and it adds the new Forest rescue sequence that closes out the last stand. There's also a long list of field fixes from recent playtests. We push updates regularly, so keep the reports coming.

What's New

  • Forest rescue sequencewhen your squad goes down in the Forest's final stand, a new story cutscene now plays out the extraction.
  • Readable operative nameplates: your operatives' names now read clearly on their chest patches.

Improvements

  • Mission-critical objectives are now flagged as Directives on the map and the post-op recap, so you can see at a glance what's gating your advance.

  • Better controller support across menus. The Dossier and Guide screens now scroll and navigate properly with a gamepad.

  • In the lobby, the host can now select and rotate any operative, their own or an NPC, to size them up before deployment.

  • In multiplayer, NPC roster cards no longer show host-only controls to other players.

  • Operatives now grip the rope properly on reinforcement drops.

Balance & Tuning

  • Cut the kill counts needed to unlock the early weapons way down.

  • Heavier hostiles (Shotgunners and Boomers) now filter into the waves instead of all piling up at the end.

  • Shotgun zombies are now drawn to a nearby music box instead of shooting past it at a player.

  • The Wretch no longer hangs back at range. She closes in and presses the attack now.

  • Confused zombies no longer all stumble off in the same direction at the same moment.

Bug Fixes

  • Cleaned up a stack of issues with the Forest Last Stand rescue in multiplayer: no more getting stuck on "waiting for other players," the cutscene holds in sync across the squad, downed operatives stay down, the screen blacks out fully, and clients fall back to the menu cleanly if the host bails mid-scene.

  • Fixed operatives sometimes being unable to revive a downed teammate.

  • Operatives and NPCs no longer spawn on top of each other, float, or end up outside the garage in the lobby and customize screens.

  • Zombies no longer get hung up on trucks and other obstacles.

  • Point-blank shots and point-blank enemy attacks now land instead of passing through.

  • In multiplayer, the horde now properly goes after players who are far from the host.

  • Fixed the Medic dropping smoke on a teammate when no one was being revived.

  • Fixed the tutorial sometimes dropping you inside a neighboring house you couldn't walk out of.

  • Blood decals no longer show up as full rectangles.

  • Objective completions are now credited reliably at the end of a match.

  • Forest Last Stand chatter now fits the solo, cut-off tone. HQ stops chiming in over the radio when you're on your own out there.

  • Companion chatter now only comes from the companion, and only when one's actually on the map.
