The Carcass changes
Version 2.1.2: 5 Days to Launch
Update: August 7, 2026 Launch: August 11, 2026
Version 2.1.2 is built around one promise: the game should say what it means, respond to what you enter, and remember why your colony reached this point.
One consistent game across 29 languages
This update begins with the words players actually see, type, and trust.
A broad pass across 29 languages made room names, prompts, counters, labels, and instructions more consistent.
Russian now uses one clear term for the game's Pulse, handles numbers more naturally, and keeps exploration and research distinct.
A subtle form of damaged text that silently removed accented letters was found and repaired across 13 languages.
The Turkish witness system now has 150 event-specific lines written in Turkish, with no English responses leaking into play.
A new story that remembers what you did
The Vein of the Storm Children is a new thirteen-event chain about cause, debt, and retaliation.
An envoy can be paid, bargained with, threatened, or deceived, and each answer leads to its own aftermath.
Your choices can open trade, provoke a raid, attract allies, and change how the colony is named when a worker returns.
Every card explains why it appeared and shows the cost before you choose. The save remembers the path you took.
Witnesses can now speak about the event in front of them instead of answering every crisis with the same generic line.
The opening and tutorial now work as one path
The first minute and the first lesson were rebuilt as one readable introduction.
World creation now fills a visible progress frame while the manifesto arrives line by line, instead of looking frozen or dropping everything at once.
Dozens of automatic notices stay quiet until they matter, and early discoveries wait for the opening to finish.
Every written tutorial lesson now reaches the screen after step one, and lessons triggered together wait their turn.
Lessons give numbered routes such as press [1], then [3], and long instructions wrap cleanly across all supported languages.
Commands, navigation, and progress agree
If the screen advertises an input, that input should work in the same place.
The hub shortcuts [?], [>], [F], [M], and [G] now do what their labels promise, including the Turkish glossary shortcut.
Enter closes reports correctly, place explains how to use it, and typing a research name now gives a useful answer.
Pressing Enter twice on an event no longer destroys its story, prices, and effects. The full decision card remains visible.
Harvests entered the taught way count toward goals, hidden regions open through their numbered route, and earned rooms stop asking you to repeat completed work.
The screen tells the truth
Several systems were already doing the right thing but displaying the wrong state. Those screens now match the game underneath.
Resource totals no longer contradict each other, spent excavation choices look spent, and reward panels no longer deny rewards shown directly below them.
Exit options stay at the end of the screen, logs show the correct Pulse and avoid duplicate lines, and unfinished text slots no longer appear to players.
The harvest room opens on the decision while keeping the map as context, and the glossary correctly tells players which terms can be searched.
Two music tracks no longer play over each other, so a scene has one clear musical voice.
Choices explain their price and result
A decision should be understandable before it spends resources, relations, or an escape route.
The Hunger Whisper and opening battle tactics now explain what each cost buys and when an option will have no effect.
Diplomacy refusals show the required threshold and current relation, while sealed routes name the research that opens them.
Exploration claims explain their real reward, market lines state what is missing, and inaccessible rooms point to the screen that can help you find them.
ASCII scenes became wider and more recognizable
The art pass is about reading an object from its shape, not only from the title above it.
All 1,541 event tableaux now use the wider 116-column stage.
More than 800 pieces were redrawn as recognizable objects with structure, depth, and distinct before-and-after states.
Bells, looms, lenses, barricades, channels, wounds, and other event objects now belong more clearly to the moment they represent.
Five days remain
The purpose of Version 2.1.2 is trust. A shortcut should open what it names, a lesson should reach the screen, a price should describe its return, and the colony should remember the reason consequences arrived.
The Carcass: Echoes of Rot launches on August 11.
