A major refinement to The Book of Aaru 's parry system is already in place. It's now easier to learn and more rewarding to master, without taking away the thrill of timing a perfect deflection.

What changed

0 fixes1 addition3 changes1 removal
  • Gameplay
  • Balance
  • UI and audio
removedStun and Invincibility on Successful Parry Landing a perfect parry no longer just stuns your opponent. It now also grants brief invincibility, preventing unfair moments where a second enemy punishes you during the animation, even though you timed the parry correctly.
changed50% Damage Reduction on Failed Parries
changedEven when your parry doesn't land perfectly, you’ll still benefit from 50% reduced damage. That means players can experiment and improve their timing without suffering full punishment for every misstep.
changedExpanded Timing and Protection Window The core parry window remains tight and rewarding. It lasts 0.3 seconds, starting 0.1 seconds after you press the key. But in addition, a wider protective window activates the moment you press the button and lasts until 0.8 seconds after the parry ends. In practice, this means you're covered for a full 1.2 seconds, even if you don’t hit the sweet spot.
addedPost-Parry Invincibility To make close-quarters combat feel fairer, a successful parry now grants 0.55 seconds of invincibility starting from the moment your block lands. This makes risky encounters feel more consistent and under your control.
