The Beast Awoke To Eat Your Darlings changes
BATEYD — The Beast Awoke to Eat Your Darlings — is nearly finished.
If you’re just arriving: it’s a horror game you outsmart, not survive. Everything in its nightmares runs on rules you can learn. Sentinels fire a flare when they see you. A flare always brings the Beast. A hungry Beast eats a steak before it hunts a cat. Pet a Sentinel from behind and it melts into a puddle of beer, which is a trap, because the Beast doesn’t look where it’s running. None of this changes between attempts. That’s the point — you can plan.
Dying is fine, by the way. Die, and the game offers you more help. Refuse the help, and it scores you higher.
The page has a fresh set of screenshots as of this month — cemetery, school, rave, the park, and one cat in an elevator.
What happens next: a teaser trailer very soon, a playable demo in Steam Next Fest this October, and launch on October 27 — into Halloween week, which felt right.
There's a content warning on the page: the story deals with difficult subjects honestly rather than graphically, and you should know what they are before you play or stream it.
If you’re reading this, you probably already wishlisted. Thank you. If not — the button’s right there, and every single one genuinely matters for a game made by one person.
