We've mentioned Arcade Mode multiple times through development, but we haven't exactly shared any details on what exactly that is. Let's change that!
If you have some fighting game experience you probably know what to expect! Arcade is a single-player, highly replayable mode where you go through several stages of standard matches. Your performance gets scored in each match and will be saved as a high-score once you complete the playthrough!
Each icon in the lower section of the screen represents a stage. Character icons are standard Crackpots matches (though you'll get a variety of rulesets!), while the bottles represent a minigame. We've already shared some details on the first one in the previous Dev Update, but there's also a second minigame that we'll be showing off at a later date. You'll play a single round of both minigames in each run, and they're both a chance to give your score a serious boost!
The characters you meet in Arcade Mode are randomized, but you'll always finish every run with a match against the beloved Headmaster of the Abracavial Academy. He'll always be the boss!
Since we already have a dedicated Story Mode, we decided not to include dialogue or special story-endings in Arcade Mode. If all you want is continuous gameplay, this is the mode for you! Still, while we may not have story content, you might still get some fun surprises if you finish a run with each character, we hope you check them out!
One more advantage of Arcade Mode over Story Mode, is that you can play Arcade Mode with a friend in local co op! When selecting a character for the run, a second player can join just like in a standard Crackpots match. You'll go through every stage together, even the minigames!
There's still a few more things to cover in Arcade mode, but we'll leave that for another day. Thank you for your time, and we hope you're looking forward to Arcade Mode!
