Ternion changes
Welcome everyone to this first development update. This page have been created a few months ago but no information about the release date have been provided yet.
I'll start from the beginning. This project is the videogame adaptation of a book I've personally wrote when I was 17: Ternion (luckily for you it's in Italian). It's a project I've started in 2013 but I've never completed and I recently decided to redo from scratch. The development began at the early beginning of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and, since then, is progressing at a quite constant rate.
The gameplay loop and most of the game fundamentals have been developed in the first four months. What I've been working on since April 2020 is setting up every scene and every cutscene of the game in chronological order. 28 scenes have been planned since the beginning and, currently, 15 of them have been completed.
So, if my proportions are correct, the game should be released in September 2025... right? Well... there are more variables that needs to be taken into account.
Secondary missions are planned
In addition to these 28 planned scenes there is an undefined amount of scenes for potential secondary missions or designed to explore and gather items, or fight optional bosses. At the moment no secondary mission have been developed... kind of, but the game allows and infinite amount of secondary missions that can be played at the end of the game. If you do the right choices.
Gameplay balancing and tweaking
A few months are needed to test every single fight, to try to beat the game in every way possible to check if the game's difficulty is acceptable without a boring amount of grinding.
Beta testing and bug fixing
An additional month or two should be dedicated to bug fixing and intense beta testing.
Voice acting
At least half of year is needed to Voice Actors to catch up with lines for the latest parts of the game, and the lines are a lot. I just hope I'm not abusing of their kindness.
So will the game be released on mid 2026?
That's the most optimistic estimate. But...
But...?!
But level design and 3D modeling are not my greatest skills. If I managed to receive some help in that area I would definitely focus on creating cutscenes, dialogues and improving gameplay. This mean the development of these scenes would be considerably faster, and the graphics of the whole game would benefit. I really hope I can find some people willing to help me in that direction.
What about an Early Access?
Releasing the game as an Early Access before the official release is a plausible option and surely will be considered. Please note that an Early Access:
Won't have voice acting, or will have partially completed voice acting.
Since the game is linear (not an open world) will interrupt at some point, until a new update is released.
The levels and the graphics of the game may be subject to change after an update.
