# Devlog #14 – Back to the Roots: Rebuilding Tawa's Adventure

Hello everyone!

Today I'd like to share an important update regarding the future of *Tawa: Lost in Time*.

Over the past months, I experimented with many systems, mechanics, and environments. While this allowed me to learn a lot, it also introduced numerous bugs, inconsistencies, and technical issues. Looking back, I realized that I was trying to move too fast and add too much at once.

Because of that, I've made the decision to completely rebuild the first three levels from a clean foundation:

  • Paradise Island

  • Autumn Forest

  • Glacier

and more..

This fresh start will allow me to create a more stable, polished, and enjoyable experience for everyone.

## Tawa's Story

The core story remains unchanged.

Tawa begins her adventure living what seems to be a wonderful dream. However, reality quickly catches up with her. She awakens alone, lost, and confused.

Her goal is simple: find a way out of each mysterious world she discovers.

Every level will have its own atmosphere, creatures, secrets, and challenges as Tawa searches for answers.

## A New Direction

One of the biggest changes concerns the gameplay itself.

Originally, I planned a stronger survival experience with hunger, thirst, and various management systems.

After many tests, I realized that these mechanics were pulling attention away from what makes Tawa special.

Going forward, *Tawa: Lost in Time* will focus more on:

  • Exploration and discovery

  • Interactions with animals and dinosaurs

  • Environmental storytelling

  • Relaxing moments of adventure

  • Epic escape sequences and chases

  • Simple and accessible combat encounters

The goal is no longer to create a complex survival game, but rather a memorable adventure where every encounter feels meaningful.

As a result:

  • Hunger and thirst systems have been removed.

  • Animals will feature more dialogue and interactions.

  • Future updates will allow fruits and water to provide temporary bonuses rather than being mandatory survival resources.

## Audio Improvements

I've also been working on the game's audio experience.

This update introduces:

  • New original music tracks.

  • Improved ambient sounds.

  • A completely redesigned sound management system.

Previously, some sounds were heavily tied to menu systems. The new approach allows audio to be managed directly in-game, creating smoother transitions and a more immersive experience while exploring the world.

## Quality Over Quantity

Perhaps the most important lesson learned during development is that more content doesn't automatically create a better game.

Instead of building many unfinished features, I want to focus on creating fewer systems that are polished, enjoyable, and reliable.

This rebuild is an important step toward that goal.

Thank you all for your patience and support as Tawa's adventure continues to evolve.

See you in the next update, where I'll focus on fixing issues and polishing this new foundation!
