removedIn anticipation for Steam's next fest and as Tankenstein's development ramps up towards Early Access we decided to update the demo with some of the latest features we have been working on. We said we wouldn't update the demo any further, but a lot has changed since the original release and we no longer feel the old demo fully reflects the game as it will be in Early access. Thanks to all the community feedback and support, we have been able to create a much more well rounded experience.
addedIn this update to the demo we have changed/added a lot, but here is a list of the most notable changes:
addedAdded Lootable CPUs to bosses that can unlock powerful upgrades.
addedUpgraded world generation with new compounds, tweaks to terrain, a further draw distance and more.
changedChanged suspension model to improve tank handling.
addedAn improved heat system that adds a new resource to manage when building your tank.

We said we wouldn't update the demo any further, but a lot has changed since the original release and we no longer feel the old demo fully reflects the game as it will be in Early access. Thanks to all the community feedback and support, we have been able to create a much more well rounded experience.

In this update to the demo we have changed/added a lot, but here is a list of the most notable changes:

  • Added Lootable CPUs to bosses that can unlock powerful upgrades.

  • Upgraded world generation with new compounds, tweaks to terrain, a further draw distance and more.

  • Changed suspension model to improve tank handling.

  • An improved heat system that adds a new resource to manage when building your tank.

  • More and bigger explosions.

  • Added weight categories (light & heavy) to make managing weight clearer and more impactful.

  • Many balance changes to existing parts and stats.

  • Minor CPU stats are now multiplicative instead of additive.

  • Improved damage effects to more clearly show which parts have been damaged.

  • AI changes to make them behave more fairly towards the player.

We have also slightly expanded the size of the demo, as we want it to reflect the final product as much as possible. The demo still ends at the first boss, but you should now have a little more breathing (and fighting) room.
