changedBefore we opened up the game for a closed beta test with 200+ participants, we at Potato Kid decided this would be a great opportunity to get some telemetry data and learn more about what’s going on in the runs from an objective, data-centric perspective, as well as gathering the subjective feedback we are collecting on Discord and with the survey.
addedIf you have never heard of telemetry, no sweat: “Telemetry is the automated collection and transmission of data and measurements from distributed or remote sources to a central system”, says IBM here . We designed and implemented lots of fun little triggers and can now share data based on 5 days of gameplay by our dear testers (from 16/july to 20/july)!
changed4 brave players already reached the end of the Beta! On 11 occasions Talaka made it to the final boss of this beta build, and 4 times she emerged victorious. Congratulations to those who made it!!!
changedRooms cleared: 5785 Players have beaten a total of 5785 rooms, meaning the average rooms cleared per run is 9 . This includes rooms like healing, shops and narrative, so the real combat rooms are likely a bit lower than that!
fixedBugs reported: 25 (and counting!) The community has already flagged 25 bugs/inconsistencies/issues with the game. This is great, we love to see these pop up and get to work to fix them! Several will (hopefully) already be fixed in the Beta update coming up later this week!

Now on to the fun part: the fun facts!

  1. 4 brave players already reached the end of the Beta! On 11 occasions Talaka made it to the final boss of this beta build, and 4 times she emerged victorious. Congratulations to those who made it!!!

  2. Death Toll: 604 Talaka has died 604 times during these days. Poor girl. But she’s resilient and she kept fighting!

  1. Rooms cleared: 5785 Players have beaten a total of 5785 rooms, meaning the average rooms cleared per run is 9. This includes rooms like healing, shops and narrative, so the real combat rooms are likely a bit lower than that!

  2. Miniboss Spotlight: Head of the Mule That pesky head! It has killed players 69 times… which means over 10% of player kills! But she has been defeated 378 times too, so take that!

  3. Eshu is rich! Ashe collected: 1968 Oh, what a good gig he’s running! Eshu collected all of that for opening up portals in Orun to take Talaka to the Aiê.

  4. Dendê Tree has been beaten 56 times That’s how many players cleared the first act of the game! Though she killed 67 players, meaning she’s got a solid 1.19 Kill/death ratio!

  5. Bugs reported25 (and counting!) The community has already flagged 25 bugs/inconsistencies/issues with the game. This is great, we love to see these pop up and get to work to fix them! Several will (hopefully) already be fixed in the Beta update coming up later this week!
  6. Sankofas found: 1806 Our testers have found all of these Sankofas scattered around the game’s rooms. Did you know that finding Sankofas not only rewards with some instant healing, but unlocks more powerful healing rooms as well!

Seeing these numbers roll in has been one of the best parts of this whole beta for us! Every run, every death, every bug report feeds directly into decisions we're making right now.

Thank you so much for all of you who spent your precious time playing the game and helping us shape it. If you haven't played it yet, we'd love to have you in there too - beta runs until July 30th! Come find us on Discord:

Until next time!
