Repeated intro
Hello Operator, welcome to the Demo for Switchboard. Thanks for joining us! I'm the primary developer of this project and, like the many creative people behind the scenes, I am very excited to present our work.
What changed
- Gameplay
- Performance
- UI and audio
Housekeeping
Independent games development is an inconsistent and unpredictable landscape, so I thought it would be worth explaining what to expect. Best laid plans...
This demo gives an idea of the game's final form, but many aspects are open to change. The game isn't planned to pass through Early Access.
The Bug Hunt
Bugfixing and UX improvements are sure to become relevant during this project's current phase. Plenty of playtesting was performed on this demo to deliver a pleasant and stable experience. That being said, sharing it with you will give us even more opportunities for feedback, especially relating to user experience. I will continue to tweak the demo.
There have been sparse reports of a game-breaking bug which I have struggled to replicate. most likely due to differing PC specifications. It's tough to guarantee performance on every configuration of hardware, but I'll endeavour to promptly seek out the issue using any reports I receive. See it, say it, I'll try and sort it.
Word of Mouth
If you know anyone interested in period drama, audio drama, 20th Century history or puzzle games, I encourage you to let them know this game is available. The setting is meticulously researched, and true elements of 1950s British culture have informed the entire project. I believe the era is underexplored, both within and without the gaming medium, so this should be a novel experience.
Please understand that even wishlisting this game for free, in advance of its release, is a great help. I promise the final game will have a lot to offer, and your assistance can only make it better.
So begins the adventure. I very much appreciate your time, patience and support. Thanks!
~ J
