changedSo let's say it plainly: we do not use AI-generated art, dialogue, or voices in the game itself.Every character, environment asset, weapon, UI element, and piece of concept art was created by our in-house 2D and 3D artists — real people sketching, modeling, texturing, and lighting everything you see on screen. Every line of dialogue was recorded by real voice actors, directed and produced for this game. And you, the community, helped us shape it!
changedSo let's say it plainly: we do not use AI-generated art, dialogue, or voices in the game itself. There are two places we do use AI as a tool, and neither is part of the game's actual content: some Steam achievement icons ( a small, separate metadata asset outside the game build ) were created with the help of AI tools, and some text localizations were AI-assisted, then reviewed by a native speaker wherever we could arrange one. Everything you actually see and hear in the game — its art, dialogue, and voice performances — is entirely human-made.

That's part of why we wanted to address this clearly rather than let it sit.

Hi Survivors!
We've noticed a growing number of reviews and comments claiming that Survival Machine uses AI-generated content — art, dialogue, or voices. We've been answering this one by one, but since it keeps coming up, we wanted to address it properly, in one place.
So let's say it plainly: we do not use AI-generated art, dialogue, or voices in the game itself.
Every character, environment asset, weapon, UI element, and piece of concept art was created by our in-house 2D and 3D artists — real people sketching, modeling, texturing, and lighting everything you see on screen. Every line of dialogue was recorded by real voice actors, directed and produced for this game. And you, the community, helped us shape it!
We also want to be honest rather than defensive about this: AI-generated content is everywhere now, and telling it apart from human work isn't always easy, even for trained eyes. That's exactly why we're glad to look into specific concerns rather than dismiss them.
There are two places we do use AI as a tool, and neither is part of the game's actual content: some Steam achievement icons (a small, separate metadata asset outside the game build) were created with the help of AI tools, and some text localizations were AI-assisted, then reviewed by a native speaker wherever we could arrange one. Everything you actually see and hear in the game — its art, dialogue, and voice performances — is entirely human-made.
When a comment says "this is AI," it's rarely abstract — it lands on the specific person who made that thing: the 3D artist who modeled and textured it, the 2D artist who painted it, the voice actor who performed it. That's part of why we wanted to address this clearly rather than let it sit.
Steam post imageWorth remembering too: intuition about what "looks AI" isn't a reliable signal right now, and neither are AI detection tools. So if something looks off to you, we'd genuinely rather you ask us than assume — we can always talk about it and clear everything up. You can always drop by our Discord and check the ''devlog'' section to see how the game's progressed over the years.
Thanks for hearing us out, and for the people who raise concerns in good faith — it helps us, and it stands up for the artists and voice actors who made this game.
