Two new projects in development

SLF continues to grow. Two major pieces are currently being built into the campus, and this trailer gives you a first glimpse of one of them — the Scriptorium.

The Scriptorium & Historium — learning to write, by hand

A new building is rising at the edge of the campus: a stone scriptorium inspired by the medieval copy-houses, crowned with a golden quill. Inside, the player rediscovers something that digital natives rarely practice anymore — handwriting on paper.

The principle is simple: the player prints a blank sheet from the game, writes on it, then photographs it with a mobile phone. The Scriptorium receives the image, straightens it, and reads each line.

What makes it unique: a personal neural network, trained from the player's own hand. The more the player writes, the better the AI learns their writing style. It is not a generic OCR — it is a CNN that grows with each session, specific to each player.

But the Scriptorium is also an Historium. Between writing exercises, Prof'Fil shares the story of Alcuin of York — the 8th-century scholar who reformed writing across Europe at Charlemagne's court, giving birth to the Carolingian minuscule that became the ancestor of our modern alphabet. Each sentence the player copies is a step in a journey through the history of writing, knowledge, and the empires of the year 800.

A complete visual rework of the campus

In parallel, the entire SLF campus is being redesigned. The new campus will feature a floating island, a distinct architectural style, and reworked interiors for each discipline. This rework has taken slightly longer than initially planned, but the result will be a much stronger visual identity for the game.

More details on the new campus will come in a dedicated announcement soon.

SLF remains free, developed by a solo developer, and entirely funded by Angitech. Thank you to everyone who has followed the project so far — your feedback, in-game messages, and patience mean a lot.
