Hey Everyone! Thank you for downloading and trying the SURANGAMA Combat Test Demo! We poured our heart and soul into the demo build and our kickstarter, but obviously it didn't hit the mark.

Hey Everyone! Thank you for downloading and trying the SURANGAMA Combat Test Demo! We poured our heart and soul into the demo build and our kickstarter, but obviously it didn't hit the mark. Luckily, we have a bit of experience with making fixes quickly to adjust to first day issues. We've gotten quite good at this "fix it fast under pressure" part. So Let's cut straight to the chase! fixedFixed an issue where the Equipment icons were not displaying correctly

  • Improved the overall functionality of exorcisms

  • Fixed broken material assignment on Buddha statues

  • Fixed a resolution issue with UI icons for buttons/keys in tutorials and pop-ups

  • Fixed a bug where the player could look around during interactions, preventing exiting dialogue.

Changes

  • Adjusted Right and Left Bumper and Trigger icons in UI to be more clear.

  • Shift now toggles sprinting. Stopping movement will reset to walking/jog.

  • Beginning section of demo massively reworked.

  • Tutorials simplified, some removed.

  • light beam and combo challenge puzzles removed to streamline demo progression.

  • Adjusted the slow motion duration and motion warping behavior of the primary execution animation.

  • Spirit Mirror now activated by holding X instead of left shift on KBM.

  • Target Lock is now toggled instead of held.

  • Guarding no longer target locks.

  • the balance beam now requires pressing interact to enter, in order to prevent interference during combat. - The gate to the bridge now requires a lever pull activation instead of the light beam puzzle. (sorry to people who liked the puzzles

Known issues We are investigating

  • Occasional Fatal Error Crashes (this is a known unreal engine 5 issue, we are trying to optimize further to help prevent, but consider running the game by forcing DX11 and let us know if that helps!)

  • Loading saved game is not properly loading inventory

  • Player rotate-to-target sometimes behaving incorrectly

  • Enemies will sometimes display the exorcism prompt, but take damage before the execution flag triggers, resetting their animation but keeping them invulnerable until their timer runs out and they die. - enemy I-frames not actually working for anything but visual feedback.

  • Awakening mode soundtrack will stop and restart repeatedly in high density combat.

  • Rare: After some unknown condition Awakening bar will not properly disengage when stamina runs out, breaking the awakening bar. Hold R Trigger and press L Bumper when this happens to force Awakening mode off. (this preserves your current bar as well, useful for combat!)

Adjustments coming soon

  • Localization for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese

  • Spirit Mirror no longer requiring holding Guard to activate

  • General Balancing and enemy behavior adjustments

  • Enemy AoE attacks: "poison puddle" and "timed explosive"

  • Enemy iframe issue fix

  • Further improvement of exorcism system

Longer Term Adjustments

  • Control binding/customization

  • Target switching

  • Spirit Mirror Burst: Discharge awakening meter with an "shotgun" style blast.

We hope These changes makes the Demo more enjoyable and gives you hope for the game and trust in us as developers to deliver a great product worthy of your support. If you pulled out of the demo early, we hope you give it another shot, as these initial changes greatly improve the experience and flow over all! We also want to thank all the harsh feedback that helped us reconsider sticky issues, these changes greatly improve the combat already, but there is more to come!

We plan to support this demo long-term with regular updates to earn your trust and support. We truly and honestly believe in this game and want to make something amazing.
