SUPERVERSE changes
When you least expected it, here it is
the big fat Summer Update! We've spent the last several months cooking up a lot of stuff for you. Here's everything that's new in SUPERVERSE.
At a glance
Brand new title screen
Reworked menus with mouse support and animated transitions
Controller vibration and much wider controller support
A clearer, faster tutorial
19 new languages (22 total)
~5% faster rendering, an FPS cap option, and bug fixes
New title screen
The title screen has a more modern look and feel, with a prominent logo that alternates between the full logo and the "V" mark — a variant we've never used in the game before.
Menu updates
The menus have been polished and rebuilt, with animated transitions and more room to breathe.
Mouse support in both main menus and in-game menus. Right-click takes you one level back.
◄ ► toggles on every option that has multiple values, so it's always clear what you can change.
FPS cap option added to Settings > Video.
Controller vibration
Your controller now rumbles. Haptic feedback is in, and a much wider range of controller types and models is properly supported out of the box.
Tutorial improvements
The tutorial level starts faster, explains things more clearly, and does a better job of guiding new players toward their goals — you're far less likely to get lost in it now.
New languages
SUPERVERSE now speaks 19 new languages, for a total of 22:
English
Serbian – Cyrillic
Serbian – Latin
German
Spanish
Portuguese
Russian
Italian
French
Polish
Turkish
Ukrainian
Czech
Hungarian

Under the hood: goodbye GLFW, hello SDL
For years we used GLFW as our windowing and event system, and it served us well. We've now switched to SDL, a more capable library. The reasons are numerous, but the big ones are much better controller support and an easier path to new platforms down the road. The vibration support above simply wasn't possible before this change. Beyond that, we found some optimizations that speed up rendering by roughly 5%, and a number of bugs have been squashed. For example, the spaceship selection screen is more insistent about prompting you to pick a ship, and the camera no longer wanders off into the scene if you linger there for too long. :)
Thank you all for playing and for the feedback — a lot of this update came directly from it. If you're enjoying SUPERVERSE, leaving a review helps more than you'd think. See you in the SUPERVERSE!
